Not many teams that can compete with that.

What we need is more skill and talent...
PAP is not a 1st line winger. Landeskog is borderline right now. Jones is certainly not a top line winger. McGinn is a second line winger at best as well.

This team simply needs one of Jones (#1 D) , Drouin (unbelievably skilled winger) or MacKinnon (Recreate Forsberg/Sakic with Duchene/MacKinnon + fill other holes by trading Stealthny).

Sadly that is not gonna happen....
We desperately need another top 3 pick . Damn you Varly and Matty and probably Lando
I agree with most of what you're saying, but it's not like the toughness and size do any actual damage in the games. Lucic makes a difference with his toughness, i haven't seen any of that lately from our players. sure they're tough but its not really helping us right now. But yes, a good winger with Duchene is much needed. I'd love Eller from MTL (although he's not the ideal sniper for Duchene i guess), seems he's getting ice time now though so probs too late to get him at fair price from there. He can be crazy good opening up plays and scoring and also have disgustingly good 2 way game.

Yes, like always Columbus gets good drafts but sucks anyways

I'd love to do a deal centering around Myers but it won't happen.
When was the last time you saw Myers play????

I agree and am starting to believe Little/Wheeler + 1st (I project 3-8) is about the best return we could get from Jets for ROR + one or two of our Depth Dmen or Gaunce, but would not want send Elliot.

I agree wanting quality, but I look at it like building a table:
We have the table and it has 2 legs already (Avs have a solid core group when healthy along with the upcoming prospects and draft) While it would be great to get the nicest leg available for our table, we'd still only have a table with 3 legs. Getting 2 legs that match what we already have, while not as fancy, still makes it much more stable and functional.
Not sure that makes any sense. JMO

Let's just trade ROR for this lamp. Leg for a leg.

What this team really needs is a chair:

Rug - Coffee Table - Credenza
End Table - Bookcase - Ottoman
Stool - Sofa - Bureau
Spice Rack - Door Mat - Umbrella Stand

Dining Room Table - Chair???
Love Seat - Bed
Zanon - Curio Shelf

We're %&*^ed!

Stastny's play over the last 2+ seasons suggests a low end #2/high #3 at best. Likely scenarios in an ROR deal are a #2 D or 1st line winger as the primary piece. Whether or not we keep Stastny or he walks after his contract we'll basically have 1 top notch center (Duch) and average play at best for Cs 2-4. No matter how I look at it this move puts us back years in terms of rebuild unless we get a high quality center back. I just don't see Stastny's play improving enough to not put us in a position to be very thin down the middle over the next few years.

It makes sense, and i rather have a table i can place a cup on than a table that cant have a cup standing on it. if you know what i mean.

Better?
But will the Ottoman stay sober though? Or is it best if we all just accept that every now and again the Ottoman's gunna fall off the wagon and booze it up for a month or two? In which case we need either a better Ottoman, or a better stool that can take over for the ottoman next to the bookcase.

I'm not sure if you are serious. Besides Stastny's injury shortened 08-09 season he has finished in the top 30 in Center scoring every season of his career including the last 2. Does that make him a true #1 center, no but he is at least on the fringe of that now. An average #2C will put up around 45 points, and elite one will put up 55 points. A #1C is a 65 point player, elite is 75+. A #3 should be able to put up 30. Stastny is way better than a #3C currently, he is even an above average near elite #2. I know the Stastny hate is huge here, but saying he is a #3 is grasping at straws.

OK, fine. Let's kill two birds with one stone. We'll get one of those ergonomic chairs, then we'll have no need for an ottoman, sober or not. To fill that spot we can buy a ficus bush.

It will - ideally - still be quality.

Example: the rumored deal with the New York Rangers where Colorado reportedly tried to acquire Michael Del Zotto and - as speculated by Elliott Friedman - Derek Stepan.

Another example: St. Louis's end of the Erik Johnson trade.

I agree, and am sympathetic to that view, but until he turns it around I want no part of his $5.5M hit. Way too much risk involved.

Given the Avs defense situation I would easily take that risk.

Hey, TPS. You had said yesterday that the Jets were the first team to be made aware of what type of Contract that O'Reilly would be looking for with them.

Would you agree that this would mean that he's just one step closer to being dealt? (Not necessarily to the Jets, but just the idea that another team now knows what he wants)
