They've been good in the last 3 games. Keep him there until it gets stale.

Who thinks we should trade Souray while his value is high? BB is going to be rotating his D core a lot through these games coming up because the schedule will give them hardly any rest, and our D core is old outside of Sbisa and Cam, I think trading Souray before he gets injured and slows down would be the best option right now, it helps not only these upcoming games but the contract we gave him might not hurt us later on.

Who would be the best fit for Souray and who could we get in return? Assuming a Dman would be coming back.

Completely disagree with trading him now. His value is probably considerably low when you compare it to his current play. The bolded statement is exactly why you wouldn't trade Souray, and Murray/BB have publicly stated they want at least 8 NHL caliber defenseman because of the schedule. This isn't even really taking in to consideration that good teams rarely, if ever, trade their top pairing defenseman mid way through the season.

In the offseason, if the value is there I could see there being a possibility, not a very strong one though.

He has a NMC at least though this year.

1 - Souray has a NTC contract this year and finally got to live with his family. The only place he'd accept a trade to is LA. Maybe. You really want to trade him to LA right now?

2 - the team is old, and will all need rest. The more legitimate D there are on the roster, the more the chance we will have 6 legitimate D on the roster come the playoffs.

3 - the purpose of hockey is to win the Stanley Cup, not to play NHL13 "be a GM". Trading your shutdown pairing defenseman while at #2 in the league is the latter.

So if Fowler is back tonight, who sits? Seems a shame to sit Lovejoy the way he and Allen have meshed.

Got a question for hockey pool. What happened to fowler?

The kid looked liked a perennial 40-50 pt dman with pp qb abilities?

I know he had the concussion, but is he still on the power play and getting good opportunities to produce?

This was his first game back after a bad concussion. Give him some time...he was already starting to look better as the game went along. Drew the penalty that caused the GWG.

He got past the defending D a couple times tonight.

He has gotten PP time, but the Ducks have a few PP worthy dmen (Souray, Beauch, Sbisa, Fowler and sometimes Lovejoy). They spread out the PP minutes most of the time for the dmen. He has looked really good this year though. I love his improvements.

Lack of 2nd line center is really hurting this team. Causing BB to have to break up our other strong lines. Still want our original 3rd back together. Still have no idea why Ryan isn't at center.

Coaching staff maythink he is not ready for that role or he might be uncomfortable playing center.

But I agree, we really need a 2C. Holland is still years away. Bonino is more a 3rd liner and Koivu can't play 2C minutes any more. At least not on a consitant basis.

I agree. Bonino just lacks the speed to carry the puck through the neutral etc. He's great on the lower lines

I'm not sure he's years away. Remember, Getzlaf took over 1st line duties when he was 22 or 23.

That was Getzlaf. I don't get that Getzlaf/Perry and Holland/Palmieri comparison anyway, the prior were way more impressive when they were that age.

Because he forced himself into that role. Holland hasnt forced himself into the lineup, let alone the Top 6.

That's not at all what I'm saying. I don't think he's years away from being a 2nd line centre if he's going to become one.

I wouldn't say he's years away but I've never been as high on the guy as some here. I wanted him as 2nd line center this year simply due to lack of options.

I guess we can agree to disagree. I'm actually not sure Holland will ever be a good 2C. Probably an option at 2C but esentially a good 3C.

One thing I really don't like about our roster - the fact that we have a bunch of spare parts. It seems like we have a bunch of guys who play totally different games trying to work together. They're still a pretty good team, but they'd be a better team if they had more players that complemented each other.

I know it's become cliche among Ducks fans the last few years, but we really need an identity.
