Sorry but I dont give a damn about Jets and honestly have trouble seeing any real rivalry developing

Also the Wild are never going to be the North Stars

I dont like change.. NHL took away Leaf/Hawks rivalry and they are doing it again with Wings/Hawks rivalry

Not to mention it is exactly what league did when they broke up Hawk rivalries with Bruins/Habs back in day

Yeah, and am I the only one who thinks Detroit and Toronto is dead and gone? I think the NHL is really going to regret this.

What is there to regret? This is what a large amount of teams wanted.

Fact is, the current setup was very bad. You had teams 2 timezones out of place. It was a mess.

This setup is good. I'd call it great if the Hawks/Blues stayed with Detroit. But because they aren't, I can't do that. But it's certainly better than what the league has today.

Really annoyed that Chicago and Detriot won't be in the same conference. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Detroit and Chicago have met more times than any other two franchises, correct? It's a damn shame.

I mostly agree. I think the NHL is putting way too much on the Hawks shoulders. They'd be asking them to carry a whole conference. to be the only draw from this new conference. As I said earlier - with a lot of light spending teams in the conference, it probably would be easier to win cups, than say the stiffer competition Detroit will face. But it will be more boring rivalries and more boring games throughout the year.

Disagreed, I think they butchered it, especially the eastern divisions, think mine on the previous page dwarf theirs on every level.

This here:

Detroit
Toronto
Pittsburgh
Philadelphia
Buffalo
Ottawa
Washington
Columbus

NYR
NYI
NJ
Boston
Montreal
Carolina
Tampa Bay
Florida

Doesn't really make a difference to me between this and what they have.

Only thing about realignment I will support is return to divisional playoffs but even then I expect NHL to screw it up (The Wildcard talk already ruining it for East conferences)

Cant blame you the Thrasher/Jets franchise has only made the playoffs once in its existance and it was a 4-0 series sweep from the Rangers. We have good ownership here that wants to win tho and i really see us as a up and coming team. Rivalries develop on ice tho so like you said well see what happens

Also the NHL should just simply flip Jets/Jackets until expansion occures then they can talk about realignment on grand scale

NO reason to realign and have unbalanced conferences at this point

There are plenty of reasons to realign. Do I really need to go over them again???

- Dallas/Minnesota/Winnipeg all want to play most of their games in the central time zone. They are losing money because of their game times.
- Detroit/Columbus don't want to play as many games out west as they do
- Similarly, teams out west would rather play more games in the pacific time zone than play @ Minny or Dallas
- TB/FLA want to be with Toronto/Montreal who they consistently make better gates off due to all the snowbirds
- Team owners want every team to play in their buildings once a year

Is that not reason enough for change?

Dal/Min/Det can live a few more years with current setup

No point in doing this conference breakdown with 7/7/8/8 ,, Wait until Pho situation is settled and we have actual expansion to bring league up to 32 teams then split it into 8/8/8/8

Nashville: Grinding style isn't healthy for our geriatrics.

Colorado: Rivalry is very dead.

Anaheim: See St. Louis, just shorter term.

Everyone else: Meh, whatever.

I guess the upside of the proposed conference is that I'll get to root for the Hawks more. But really, I wish they'd leave Columbus in the west and reunite all 3 of Toronto, Chicago, and Detroit in that division. Chicago should get pecking rights over that newfangled team, and really, would you guys miss St. Louis either?
They should do a division with Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Ottawa, Buffalo

I'd love to see that for the reaction if you had an O6 division and then 3 divisions of 8 teams each. Would love it.

I agree and have been thinking about that quite a bit...but thought if i wrote that people would think i was trolling.

Come to think of it, maybe they should just form a new league with two divisions...Chicago/Det/Toronto and Boston/New York/Montreal - and they can just compete against each other all year.

Nah I'd rather have the Hawks stay with Nashville, Minnesota, Winnipeg, etc.

It's easy for Wings fans to like this new setup when they'll have Boston, Montreal, and Toronto in their conference. One of the positives for the Hawks is our conference would blow so it'd be easier to make the playoffs. But St. Louis would be the only real rivalry and a few of the teams play a boring style of hockey.

I'm not a fan of these new conferences at all tbh, although I understand it from a logistics standpoint.

When to expect the next 2 expension teams? They will start playing 2015/16 ?? That would just make the most sense. Don't forget... we could end up with a CHI-DET SC Final

Too bad it cant be like the NBA and Chicago plays in the Eastern Conference with Detroit.

All O6 teams in one conference would be great.

I just don't see the point in waiting around. Not like expansion is a guarantee just yet.

Fact is, the owners run this league, and I think they know what's best.

I like picking up Minnesota, Winnipeg, and even Colorado, but the loss of Detroit is nonsense, if true.

We're back to being the only Original Six team out west, once again. Thanks for nothing, NHL.

Oh well, watch 'en swap Detroit right back once the Yotes move to Quebec City.

Unless the divisions are realigned once again, Detroit won't come back.

Depending on who you ask, Detroit has wanted this for at least fifteen years, if not more.

Quebec City is likely dead for the time being and Seattle will become the target once the Sonics settle in.

I mean, I like being in a division with the other teams we're in with. St. Louis, Nashville, Minnesota, Winnipeg...they make sense, and the rivalries between us and them will be fine. But Detroit needs to be in there too, they're the key, without them its kinda meh.
