Russell Martin on his insistence to play SS at the WBC (thus leading to him pulling out today)
**** you, Russell Martin. You haven't ever played SS professionally (except maybe a game or two in the low, low, low minors). Your value (such as it is considering how awful you were last year) is at catcher.
This is kind of like Crosby demanding that he get to play goal in Sochi because he once played goal for a beer league roller hockey game in Pittsburgh and he thinks it'd be fun.
Haha, wow. Way to go! I'd actually get a pretty big kick out of seeing Martin attempting to field a hot grounder at SS. For some reason I am picturing Fatty Arbuckle....
Yankees broadcast projecting Brad Lincoln into the bullpen.

From what I heard, they already beaned Lawrie in retaliation.
Well, is it going to stop there? I sure hope so. I mean, they must be pissed. Not only did the Jays steal all of their spotlight but they also injured one of their best players.
Probably. "the code" is generally just hbp-for-hbp. The fact that Granderson ended up being revealed as seriously hurt after the fact is irrelevant. The Jays (and by extension, us as fans) will probably get a whole lot of venom from Yankees fans for the fact that Granderson is hurt, but I doubt the team does anything else beyond having already thrown at Lawrie.
Sean Nolin pinch ran for that crappy canadian catcher( no not Martin, the one that's jays property) in the 9th inning. He must be a decent athlete, or he was the only body left on the bench.

They need to look at all the enforcers we have in the bullpen. Don't want some serious BB's from the flamethrowers in our pen.
He's a solid player and the Yankees really couldnt afford losing his power.
I agree. What I meant to say was besides his power he isn't the greatest of players. I also forgot that his defense is pretty good too. Yanks will miss him for sure.
Wouldn't he be like 3rd in OPS on Jays last year? He's a massive improvement over Rasmus.
Yea a lot of people **** on Granderson. He's one of the few Yankees that I like, besides Cano. It seems Yankees lost the Austin Jackson vs Granderson trade but Granderson isn't terrible as most people think.
The thing is Granderson is pretty overrated by the New York media and Yankees fans but he's pretty likeable. After you hear him talk its hard to dislike him. Really personable.
This sucks, I can't watch the spring training game out west.
Time for Rogers to step up and put all the games on Sportsnet One, like the Yankees do with Yes and the Red Sox with NESN. Join the Big Leagues Rogers.

For sure. There are so many ego-centric personalities in baseball. Grandy just seems like a genuine, nice guy. Refreshing. He could almost be mistaken as canadian.
This was cute. From Jeffrey Loria (owner of the Miami Marlins):
Quote:
The controversial trade we made with the Toronto Blue Jays was approved by Commissioner Bud Selig and has been almost universally celebrated by baseball experts outside of Miami for its value.
