I was just thinking about it. I think Pacioretty is every teams most hated player amongst our team. Pacioretty seems to often get in heated debatable scenarios. He plays with an aggressive edge.

Yes, because of all the play-off series and nastiness that the Habs have had with the Bruins.

The only thing that keeps the Habs - Leafs series going is CBC and the general hatred towards the favoritism that the Leafs get despite being pure crap for so long.

That will change with a couple of play-off series between the 2 teams, but that hasn't happened since the 60s.

I would say you hit the nail on the head there with this comment.

I doubt he's more hated than Subban.

For me it is and always will be the Leafs ahead of anyone else. Grew up on that rivalry and nothing beats it no matter how bad either of our teams are they still have amazingly memorable games from close 1 goal games to heated blowouts.

Leafs and Boston. The order depends upon the person. Other rivalries we have are not long standing, at least not for me. A lot of people mention the Canes and Sens, but I actually like both those teams.

I always thought it was internet etiquette to try to find an appropriate older thread than start a new one on another team's board. If you look at the results of the biggest rival thread on the Leafs board the Habs are runaway winners.

I think that if the Leafs were as competitive in recent years, it would be close, but the edge goes to Boston. If Toronto keeps up their success so far this season and makes the playoffs, even if they don't face Montreal there (assuming Montreal makes it too), it'll start closing that gap.

What someone said earlier about the CBC being the last bastion of hope between a Leafs-Habs rivalry is bang on, otherwise there'd be nothing between the two teams. However, given the sheer amount of Habs fans in Toronto and Leafs fans in Montreal, the rivalry would be the easiest one to make it back to the top.

This could very well be the season that happens.

Pittsburgh: Philadelphia, Washington, Detroit, Montreal, Boston(to an extent)

All the other teams I can only think of like:

Vancouver : Chicago, Calgary, Colorado(not as much as it was in the early 00's)

Calgary : Edmonton, Vancouver, Chicago

Chicago: Vancouver, Detroit, Calgary

Is there any other team right now you think has more rivalries or the same. I can only think of Pittsburgh the one team that has as many as us, but like I said I dont know if Boston is that much of a rivalery to Pittsburgh though.
We do not have Rivalries with Philly and Pittsburgh. Some years there's lots of heat between us and them, some years it's plain boring i.e last game vs Philly.

This year we have more tension between Ottawa than we have against Boston, but I'm not gonna say we have a legitimate rivalry with them yet, since the only reason things are heated is because we've played them twice and I expect tomorrow's game to be a body-check festival more than the upcoming game vs the bruins.

These are the 'official rivalries' according to the NHL.

New Jersey Devils vs. Philadelphia Flyers
Philadelphia Flyers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
New York Rangers vs. New York Islanders
New York Rangers vs. Philadelphia Flyers
New Jersey Devils vs. New York Rangers
Ottawa Senators vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
Buffalo Sabres vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
Boston Bruins vs. Montreal Canadiens
Buffalo Sabres vs. Ottawa Senators
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Montreal Canadiens
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Florida Panthers
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Washington Capitals
Chicago Blackhawks vs. Detroit Red Wings
Chicago Blackhawks vs. St. Louis Blues
Detroit Red Wings vs. Nashville Predators
Calgary Flames vs. Edmonton Oilers
Calgary Flames vs. Vancouver Canucks
Anaheim Ducks vs. Los Angeles Kings
San Jose Sharks vs. Los Angeles Kings
Anaheim Ducks vs. San Jose Sharks
Chicago Blackhawks vs. Vancouver Canucks
