Wouldn't surprise me. He's been past over before.

Is there REALLY a debate between Drouin and MacKinnon at this point? I mean, not saying MacKinnon is a slouch but geez....the talent level of Drouin is way too big to put him behind Mac.

Mack has elite talent level too. He seems off from time to time, Is the guy injured maybe ?

And it's pretty much the Ovi vs Drouin debate all over again. Mac brings a little more intangibles IMO.

I'd agree that Drouin seems better right now, but down the line I wouldn't be surprised Mack gets the upper hand.

Drouin is also 6 months older. They both have a PPG of over 1.5 in the Q since the start of their career.

If I have a lottery pick, I hope it's the third one to pick the remaining stud.(Who's likely going to be Drouin IMO.)

Three fantastick prospect nonetheless.

It's not as if it'll matter at all from a Habs perspective though.

After this afternoon game, I'm sold on Yan-Pavel Laplante. I very liked him already because he plays a gritty-north-south game and because he is very smart. He is able to takes good decisions and fast ones. He is also a hard-worker. But today, he showed more, he showed creativity. He was very dangerous with the puck. The way he dangled the puck at full speed was very impressionning. He is really good in all three zone. He is dominant with the puck in the neutral one and he created several turnovers in the defensive zone. The complete package. Definitely a mid-round pick !

That was just an orgasmic shift by Drouin

The more I see and the more I hear about Valery Nichushkin, the more impressed I get. The kid is a giant winger who uses his speed and strength to just blow past defenders and he does it as a 17-year-old playing against adults in the 2nd best league in the world. It's just amazing.

Not that I think the Habs are going to draft him, if he falls on draft day because of the Russian factor I can't see the Habs as the team that takes a chance on him.

He looks much too selfish for me. He has a nice skill set, but he'd rather try and deke three guys and take a huge wrister instead of making the smart play.

I'm pretty sure I saw Mario Lemieux, Sidney Crosby many other greats do that kind of thing in the juniors and then replicate some of it in the big league.

Maybe not THAT....but I've seen Datsyuk make NHL players look stupid quite a few times. And other players as well. Why wouldn't Drouin not be able to do so? It's not solely about the flashy style...it's about the hands....the hand-eye coordination...the dangling at high speed, the deceptive speed, the Overall IQ...the shot and so on....

any chance domi falls to us?

really like this player's skill-set. let say, we end up picking 20th or so can he fall to us? or am I giving domi too much and he'll end up in the 2nd round?

he just strikes me as a winner.

Very unlikely if we're picking in the 20's.

I can see Drouin's tolls being more adaptable to the NHL. MacKinnon will struggle to play a straight ahead "bulldozer" style in the NHL at 5'11" 180lbs(or 190 or 195lbs) even with that nice "extra gear".

Drouin isn't "above 1.5 PPGM" he is above 2.2 PPGM. He's on a crazy pace since MacKinnon went out, 21 points in 7 games.

I have trouble believing his height and weight are accurate, he looks much bigger out there. Even then he'll end up above 200 lbs, which is more than Taylor Hall who's another guy playing the same style, and it hasn't been a problem for him.

Comparing Lemieux to Crosby then to Drouin ? This hurts me.

Tell that to Gally.

In all seriousness, he's 17. The guy will get much bigger, faster and stronger. I don't worry for him. Look at Subban for instance, he's only 1 inch taller than him and overpowers most of the other teams forward.

The bad thing about the Habs doing so well is that reading this thread makes me so depressed
Man I'd kill to have one of Drouin, Mac,jones, lindholm or barkov to go along with price, subban, pacioretty and Galchenyuk. Hopefully Timmins can work his magic and find us a Jankowski in the latter parts of the first round.

Has Jankowski done something that merits this comment?

Man, this Drouin kid is amazing...

Can we trade Plekanec to Columbus for their first or something?

Unfortunately, they now have a very smart man in charge.
