on capgeek it shows long term contracts with Fleischman, Versteeg,Kopecky,etc.......maybe a cap floor team is interested.........that one yr they signed a ton of guys I thought those were bad long term deals but they did do well last yr
what the heck is going on with Weiss ? he is killing my fantasy team. Kulikov has been a dissapointment too
The Panthers are about to trade everyone? These people were signed as stop gaps until the kids were ready, the fact that we went to the playoffs last year was an anomaly he will not trade a bunch of players for 7th round picks then leave the team empty and full of AHLers and prospects with no leadership guidance.
Absolutely.
Flash and Versteeg should be available. Bergenheim, maybe. No one in the organization knows where Bergenheim is, apparently. Something fishy going on with that situation. It's a shame because he's really missed. He was very good last year. Missing him for the whole year hasn't helped this year. Solid 2-way player, always plays with a lot of energy.
This team is pretty bad. I guess that's what happens when your entire first line decides to not show up for the year.
A lot of upcoming UFA's, and a lot of veterans who could have an impact for a contender.
Jonathan Huberdeau, Drew Shore, Erik Gudbranson, Dmitry Kulikov (maybe? Tallon didn't draft him, and he can be rather frustrating so I'm probably stretching the list a bit), and Jacob Markstrom are the untouchables on the NHL roster right now. Mueller has been nice too, but he's also a free agent after the year so who knows.
The rest can be had.
I thought Kulikov showed a bit of laziness on the ice today. Especially on the power play. He's still really fluid and sometimes that's taken as lazy, so I wont harp on him to much.
The biggest problem with Florida, is they really dont need any young prospects. They have their lot. If they dont develop them, that's on the organization. Having said that, they'll be looking for NHL ready bodies which will really hurt any leverage they really have, value wise, in a trade. I mean other than Weiss, what are they really going to trade of value?

Who said they were all being traded for 7th round picks?

Tought one.
The problem with Kulikov isn't so much laziness, but rather decision-making (sometimes) and the fact that he probably has the most inaccurate shot in the entire NHL.

I highly doubt we move Mueller, Weiss might go for a first, Flash would go for a first and so would Steeg...Everyone else 5-7th rounders if anyone takes them at all. This leaves us without a team, is that what your looking for? More realistically, Steeg and Flash probably won't be traded. So we trade a bunch of players for 7th rounders? We have a blueprint not sure why you want to go against it just because we had one fluke season. They are mentors not skilled players.
What are Florida's needs? Center men? wingers? dmen?
I think Pittsburgh would be interested in Versteeg for the right price if he is available?
Our needs are as listed :
A whole first line, 1st line center, 1st line LW, 1st line RW (debatable when Fleischmann is doing good)
Top 4 D-Man
Bottom 6 D-Man
Back-up goaltender (If Markstrom doesn't perform well)

Realistically, some will stay.
A lot should go. We could get NHL'ers back. It's not a big deal. The season looks over. We need another minor youth movement to go along with the youth we already have. We're close. Those guys could be replaced via trades or free agents.
Also, Goc is worth more than a 5th-7th. I want Goc to stay, anyway. But yeah, if he is traded for whatever reason, he's worth more than that.
If this has to be moved to the O'Reilly thread then that's fine, but I'd like to hear your reactions to:
To FLA: O'Reilly
O'Brien/Hunwick/O'Byrne
4th
To Col: Kulikov
Goc
I'm thinking that Florida gets an upgrade on Goc in O'Reilly who probably would play on the 1st line in the Panthers, and worst on the 2nd.
They also get a depth defensman back, either a leftie or rightie or a stay-at-home (O'Byrne), a two-way (albeit not very good in O'Brien) or an OFD (Hunwick).
They also get a 4th round pick in either 2013 or 2014 Florida's choice.
Avs get an upgrade on D in anyone not named Johnson and a leftie to partner him on the 1st pair.
They also get Goc who would fill out their centers and send Olver/Bordelelau to the minors.
In theoretical value I think the Avs lose this one, but O'Reilly's value is not the same with him not signed and pouting at home.
Thoughts?
This of course only if O'Reilly agrees to sign with FLA and if FLA wants to sign O'Reilly.
Florida eats 1m of Jovos salary making him an effective #4 on our team at 3.125m for his final 2 years of his contract. He would be a great phsyical veteran presence at a discount rate.
Florida gets 2 young defensemen it can keep to rebuild a core. both are solid young top4 defensemen that can be resigned to long term deals.
