If this has to be moved to the O'Reilly thread then that's fine, but I'd like to hear your reactions to:
To FLA: O'Reilly
O'Brien/Hunwick/O'Byrne
4th
To Col: Kulikov
Goc
I'm thinking that Florida gets an upgrade on Goc in O'Reilly who probably would play on the 1st line in the Panthers, and worst on the 2nd.
They also get a depth defensman back, either a leftie or rightie or a stay-at-home (O'Byrne), a two-way (albeit not very good in O'Brien) or an OFD (Hunwick).
They also get a 4th round pick in either 2013 or 2014 Florida's choice.
Avs get an upgrade on D in anyone not named Johnson and a leftie to partner him on the 1st pair.
They also get Goc who would fill out their centers and send Olver/Bordelelau to the minors.
In theoretical value I think the Avs lose this one, but O'Reilly's value is not the same with him not signed and pouting at home.
Thoughts?
This of course only if O'Reilly agrees to sign with FLA and if FLA wants to sign O'Reilly.
Florida eats 1m of Jovos salary making him an effective #4 on our team at 3.125m for his final 2 years of his contract. He would be a great phsyical veteran presence at a discount rate.
Florida gets 2 young defensemen it can keep to rebuild a core. both are solid young top4 defensemen that can be resigned to long term deals.
A lot should go. We could get NHL'ers back. It's not a big deal. The season looks over. We need another minor youth movement to go along with the youth we already have. We're close. Those guys could be replaced via trades or free agents.
Also, Goc is worth more than a 5th-7th. I want Goc to stay, anyway. But yeah, if he is traded for whatever reason, he's worth more than that.
I have no doubt the season is over, more or less Im trying to say the players that will net us good returns will not be traded, the players that could be traded will not get us any returns. Agree on Goc hes one of my favs
A whole first line, 1st line center, 1st line LW, 1st line RW (debatable when Fleischmann is doing good)
Top 4 D-Man
Bottom 6 D-Man
Back-up goaltender (If Markstrom doesn't perform well)
hmm the pens don't really have a lot of forwards to spare, but we do have top 4 defencemen available...

I think this is a good trade for both teams.
Anything for Jovo is a yes!
+ I think that Kostka played for Dineen in the AHL, and Dineen likes him a lot.

A team that is anemic offensively will not trade Flash and Steeg; Weiss I'm sure will be shopped. On the business side of things it sends the wrong message to the fans see the Marlins and Loria. On the players side, it is virtually impossible to get guys to sign here, it will be even harder once they see we shopped our forwards after only 1 year. if this was a normal season a 20 game stretch wouldn't be so bad, but under these circumstance everything is more magnified.

I don't think it's the same thing, though.
It's not as if Flash and Versteeg are producing much here, anyway. They're only top-line players on bad teams.
Take away the first 20-25 games of the season last year, and that line has done a lot of nothing. It's about production or lack thereof.
Maybe not trade both, but one of them should go at least. We have way too many small, flashy, cutesy players in our top-6. We need to get bigger through the draft, trades, FA's, etc. and get some value out of a couple of these guys on the current team.
As a Flyers fan, I'd have no problems if a deal could be worked around Jose Theodore. Not sure what Florida would want though. Maybe Sestito and a couple of mid round picks (one this year, one next year)?

Personally I would want to trade them for first round picks and do as you say get bigger etc..But I just don't see it happening

Theo has a say in any trade.I think he has a NTC. I'd do something like Sestito. Maybe throw in a pick. We need more toughness. Theo was great last year, kinda shaky this season.
I'd be real careful just throwing Kulikov into these discussions if I were Florida fans.
I think a lot of people have the idea that around the 300 game mark you have a pretty good idea where a player is a d-man. He's getting close to it and he's definitely a top 4 guy. What remains to be seen is if he can cut down on his mental mistakes (he's good for one boneheaded play a game) and get some confidence in his offensive game (he misses the net most shots.) I see him as a first pairing guy with #1 potential in the next couple of years so I agree with your sentiments. He's going to be a stud.
With all that said, we desperately need a top line forward and Kulikov might be able to bring that back as a centerpiece of a package.
I am starting to get this really shrewed image of Tallon. Not only do all Blackhawks fans seem to think he wants to trade for the bad prospects he drafted there, now Panthers fans say he might trade Kulikov, because he didn't draft him personally.
