This team was relying on great goaltending, a decent PK, and a PP that was working. Now we aren't getting any of that. The goaltending has been crap the last two games (Please come back Marty!) the PK is non existent, the PP has gone away.

Our best PK man maybe. He has been killing penalties on his own at times. Very, very underrated player. Takes away so much space for the other team.

But he's away for weeks no?

**** this Marty better be in on Thursday. Hows that going for the ''They should split starts 50/50'' crowd?

Hedberg 4.67 GAA, and 831 save percentage in the last 4 starts.

I think the biggest problem is they haven't faced anyone that gets them riled up like a rival or a good team, they have historically have always struggled against teams they are the bottom tier and look at the last five games. It is frustrating but it is what it is, always has been.

It's not Zubrus, it's not Henrique, Jake...it's everyone stepping up. This team is the exact same minus Parise. Zach is a great player but the Penguins did fine without Crosby or Malkin during stretches.

This is a period stretch. The forecheck looks ineffective, the PP is predictable, the defense is not transitioning...it's team wide and it will be fixed team wide.

Think someone on these boards mentioned it before: Lou should ask the Sharks if Havlat is available. Devils really need a top six forward. Butler isn't getting the job done, and I think Henrique is suffering through the the infamous sophmore slump

Marty's superior play reading abilities and stick skills are sorely missed.

I could be wrong (which has happened before) but I think these three days are going to be good for the team. They like to turn it on after the All Star Break and such, so I think when the team is in a funk, they just need time to sit and not play hockey, and they haven't really been getting that opportunity.

Maybe it won't help, I don't know, but I refuse to believe this team is going to just fizzle out and disappear into the bottom of the standings. They pretty much refuse to go out quietly. All the time.

(Except in the playoffs, but hey, another conversation.)

It was all downhill after Barch's fight.

Unacceaptable to not show up against these teams. Now more than ever I really believe this is why we needed 7 to take down Florida, but were a lot better against the Flyers, and Rangers. This team never plays a complete game against the cream of the crap teams. And unfortunately for us we have a bunch of games against the cream of the crap coming up.
"They didn't show up". Most overused phrase on these boards. What does that even mean?

They showed up but didn't play as well as the other team.

I'm pretty concerned with the recent efforts...i think Peter Harold needs to play Adam Larson is a very good player but logging too many minutes. Volchenkiv is awful sal is l
Slighter better...zid needs a night off. No forechecking from anyone not named clarkson or Bern.

My god, we can't have winning streaks ALL the time, just relax and they will get their **** together, they usually do.

What are those numbers if you take out his puck handling mistakes of doom?

Barf. Gotta hope Marty will be ready for the next game after a 3 day rest.

I gotta go do something else for a while. This is just ****ing depressing as all hell.

Larsson struggled a bit today, but overall, has been having a good season.

Todd Cordell thinks we can use (another) top 4 dman. Not sure who fits that mold and is available though...

They didn't play anywhere near 60 minutes (I understand no team does) I'm not even sure if they played 20. This has become a growing trend among teams much lesser than them. It's not an ''Any given night, Devils occasionally lose to a lesser team'' thing. It's been happening a lot for the past 2 weeks.

When they ****ed up against the Flyers they came back, and won it. They don't show that against these garbage POS suck teams like the Jets.

A near perfect start to the season, now hitting a slump. Lots of sloppy areas of our game right now, but they'll get it together. Reeellaxxx

That's another thing. He's come out with the stupid poke check move too. That goal isn't on him, but he needs to stop doing that. It happened in that last goal against the Isles last week, and today.

What happened to the relentless forecheck that worked so well in the playoffs?

Zubrus being injured really hurts this team; no one else outside of clarkson, gionta, and sometimes Bernier throws their body around.

exactly, it's like they look at the teams on paper before the game and say to themselves "we should win this" and just go out there with the expectation the other team will just roll over for them or something. If it's not the Rags, Pens or Flyers they'e not playing anywhere near 60 minutes. Getting 3pts in 5 games playing the Isles, beat up Sens, Caps twice and the Jets is ridiculous.
