The two events are completely different in every way except a good goalie allowed a lot of goals.
I hope Luongo feels a bit embarrassed after letting in 8 too. The point is, why the hell would they leave him in for 8 goals against?

Certainly helps placate fans who may be getting unsure about their plan to trade him if they let his stats take a nosedive....

I haven't seen any post game stuff or reaction in why he was left in, its just strange, especially since they didn't play yesterday or tomorrow. Even if it wasn't Luongo's fault, teams would usually pull him for mercy reasons (and why Roy was so pissed off in his famous last game for the Habs)

This is getting comical. Lucky for you guys the Jackets are hopeless on offense.

Shaw for charging.

Teemu with his 250th powerplay point.

Not at all. Your recollection of history is perfect. Roy let in some goals, felt embarrassed and asked for a trade. Probably because he was too embarrassed to be seen in MTL again.

Spot on.

Flames with an own goal after a bizarre penalty to gift the Coyotes a power play goal.

I agree. Especially since so many games are nationally televised with NBC/NBCSportsNetwork/NHLNetwork and a lot more people have CenterIce/Gamecenter it seems.

Well at 6-3 we are still in the game, that was early in the 3rd. The 7th came with just over 3 minutes left. At that point, you just want to get the game over with. Why delay the game by having Schneider come in cold, risk injury, for 3 minutes of hockey?

The 8th goal, everyone literally gave up, including Luongo. But in the time it would take to switch goalies and get Schneider in there and then drop the puck, the game would be over.

Errrr.... is that not the coles notes of what happened that night? I mean I am aware of the growing animosity between Roy and Tremblay leading up to that point, and that was the tipping point. But what am I missing here?

I didn't mean he was embarrassed by letting in the goals, he was embarrassed (I guess the word should have been humiliated or insulted) by his coach for leaving him in as long as he didn.

Streak intact for at least one more. Tomorrow will be a big challenge, and probably the end of the streak.

Hawks win 1-0. Lots of chances by both teams but it ultimately came down to Crawford and the BJ's inability to score on the PP.

Must be tough when you pull your goalie and you're still short handed.

This new "no touching the puck with your hand during a faceoff" rule is possibly the most ridiculous and pointless rule put in since the "new NHL" era began - and that's really saying something.

I'd have to agree. It only serves the purpose of giving teams more artificial power plays.

How so?

Touching the puck while still in the penalty box is an automatic penalty. It just doesn't happen that often.

Neither of his feet touched the ice before his stick touched the puck

One of them hadn't even left the box yet.
