As for this supposed closeness to Malkin, he's writing a book about him. Kind of a tough spot for Malkin, really. If he doesn't consent to be interviewed, then it becomes an unauthorized biography and those aren't always pretty. Rossi went to Moscow over the summer to interview him. And by Rossi's own account, Malkin used a translator, so I guess that's something right there.

Like I said earlier in the thread, recent history shows Rossi doesn't have an inside scoop. Geno got into a Twitter battle with Sports.ru for writing a story based on a Rossi Tweet the day the lock out ended. Sports.ru said they were quoting Rossi and Malkin said they were quoting bull-*****.

So, yeah, while a concussion hasn't been ruled out, Rossi once again has gone full Rossi. Can't we ban links to his stories like we do for hokeyyyyyyyyyyyyyinsiderrrrrrrrr and that ilk?
Rossi generates reports by doing 3 things:

1. Making stuff up based upon common sense and passing it as some sort of inside info.

2. Making stuff up completely to look as if he has some sort of inside info.

3. Reporting stuff based off of numerous tweets by other writers, passing it off as some sort of inside info. This was most glaring this summer when all he could report on the Parise front was information already reported on Twitter that we already saw.

Notice that none of those 3 reasons include actually using a source.

Full Rossi once again.

Amen.

People, Rossi is like Freddy Krueger. If you stop clicking his links and don't follow his Twitter, he will disappear.

Pittsburgh Penguins ‏@penguins
#Pens coach Bylsma: Malkin suffered short-term memory loss. Diagnosed with concussion. No other symptoms. Doing fine. Memory returning

Pittsburgh Penguins ‏@penguins
More Bylsma: Malkin will not be joining team on upcoming 3-game road trip.

So he won't be back for at least 3 games. I really hope this doesn't drag on like Sid's concussion, i'm not sure if i can handle another saga like that again.

Actually that's good news. It was a standard concussion ( you know, the ones where athletes used to never even mention) . Great to see no other symptoms. Malkin will be fine. Now all they simply need to do is rest him for a bit so another hit doesn't do further damage. As I said, he will be out two weeks. My prediction is he back vs the isles at home( march 10). Missing 7 games ( 6 more) .

I would say they could bring him back against Tampa at home on march 4th but right after that we go to Philly and Toronto , two physical teams. March 10th IMO

Earliest return date now would be March 4, back in Pittsburgh against Tampa.

Good to hear some definitive, non-apocalyptic info straight from the horse's mouth.

Baseless claims? I said I'm pretty sure, not totally sure. And if he's out of the lineup it's obviously pretty serious. Not necessarily super serious, but you can tell they're taking every precaution because they're pretty concerned.

Absolutely, dismissed as simply have their "bell rung" or something. Not bad news.

Bylsma said that Malkin will not be joining the team TO START the upcoming 3-game road trip - So he is not initially travelling with the team, but that does not mean he would miss the ENTIRE roadtrip, necessarily.

That's not a bad suggestion, Dr JimmyTwoTimes.

Quote just posted said ON the road trip. It did not say TO START. Was this incorrect reporting.

Sources tell me that the short term memory loss was confirmed when team doctors asked Malkin 'is Rossi a ******' and Malkin indicated that he wasn't sure . . . K5.

No. He isn't joining the team period on the road trip.
