I was out ice fishing for over 7 hours today. Did not catch a single fish. It might be the most boring activity I have partook in in years. Jesus **** I cannot understand how people do this.
Was watching the race live when it happened... very sobering sight. Could see on the replay immediately that one of the wheels from Kyle Larson's car flew over the fence just as the front end of his car was impaling into the fence.
100+lb wheel flying through the air at WELL over 100+ mph, there's not much anyone can do to get out of the way.
I couldn't drink. My gf and I were heading back last night and since it's a 3 hour drive near midnight, I couldn't just rely on her to drive in case she got tired.

What's not to like?
It was nice at first, but after about 4-5 hours of not catching a thing it got real old real fast. I tried fishing for the first time in 10-12 years this past summer, and I really enjoyed that. Being out on the lake and attempting to get a tan(even though I just get red)...that was very relaxing.
Bundled up in a little house with a bunch of drunks when I can't even join them, when they all get 4-5 fish between the three of them, that's just...annoying. Then throw in the fact my gf's grandma comes out four hours after I did and five minutes after she sat down she caught a huge ****ing walleye and it was like pouring acid in a wound.

A lot better than spend money on $10 drinks in some loud, sweaty bar in downtown Minneapolis.
Tried to play cards, but nobody could agree on a single game, then three of the guys were too drunk to understand a game me, my gf, and another guy were trying to teach them, and it was just meh. Fish fry afterwards was very nice though.

Also, drinking and card playing helps a lot.
Lake of the Woods. Went in from Springsteel island, which is about 10 minutes north of Warroad.

I was watching this live too when it happened, and I knew something was up, because they did not show the replay for the longest time, yet they kept talking about how their thoughts & prayers were with the fans.
I'm not a big racing fan, I just happened to tune in for the final 2 laps - but holy hell, I don't think I could ever go to race live after seeing that.
Although I'm 2/3 of the way through my Hopslam and...yeah. Ankle still hurts though so I'll probably have another drink (not Hopslam). 50/50 about going to the doctor tomorrow morning. It feels funny like a rubber band stretching when I flex it, but I can put some weight on it now. Took the shot right directly on the ankle bone. Ugh.
