The jist is Stajan step out of the box as the play was coming up the ice, he has one foot on the ice, one in the box and the puck, which was being carried by the yotes, hit his stick and bounced off back towards the Yotes net. Refs blew the play down right away, and gave Stajan a 2 minute minor for interference.
That's a penalty kiddo. You cannot play the puck with one skate inside the penalty bench.
You answered your own question.
Rule 56.1: A minor penalty shall be imposed on any identifiable player on the players’ bench or penalty bench who, by means of his stick or his body, interferes with the movements of the puck or any opponent on the ice during the progress of the play. In addition, should a player about to come onto the ice, play the puck while one or both skates are still on the players’ or penalty bench, a minor penalty for interference shall be assessed.
i think he got the penalty because he poke checked the puck with only one foot on the ice and the other one still in the box so they called it interference. I guess you need to have both feet on the ice to be involved in the play, just like the rules for players on the bench...makes sense to me.

I didn't original post it. I was answering everyone question about what the penalty was, since OP didn't answer. Learn to read kiddo. I never asked a ******* question.
But he's coming out of the penalty box. If the puck's there, you're going to poke at it. If you're on the bench, I agree. That's interference/too many men.

Stupid rule.
It's a stupid rule that a guy who's half off the ice can't get involved in the play with players already ON the ice? yah ok...great logic there bud
He's supposed to wait until both his skates hit the ice. That's like saying a player can reach over the boards with his stick because....well, what else is he supposed to do, let the player skate by the bench untouched?
There is a reason for the rule, and it is a good rule.
