Yeah he over uses that line. He should just bust out the dry erase like John Madden with X's & O's. Forget the young hockey players out there.

Honestly, Eddie Olczyk is one of the best in the business, but even HOF announcers can get annoying at stretches. If they brought in Jeremy Roenick for about a quarter of the games as guest analyst it would break up things a bit.

I think we are getting picky because there is nothing wrong with this team so we are picking on areas that normally would not get our attention.

Roenick would squash the dorky lines. I think he would actually call them out on the bad humor.

change Edzo for that boring homer Konroyd? No thanks.

Edzo is here to stay. Does a good job and he really knows what he's talking about.

JR would be an interesting color guy for sure, his new book a pretty good read. The Keenan stories are hilarious, the one where he wanted the players to vote if they wanted Savard back in the game thinking they might say no and then all the players voted for Savvy.

Chicago has a good tandem compaired to most teams. Eddie is a good analyst of the game and knows the game inside and out. Sure like every guy he has his annoying moments but overall he is a good TV guy. There are some HORRIBLE guys doing hockey, be glad you don't have to suffer through that and instead have good guys to listen too.

If you don't mind an outside opinion, I think Olczyk makes a pretty good color guy. The caveat is Wings games; he's incredibly biased against the Wings and it always shows, so I find him a little irritating on national broadcasts where the Wings are involved. No Wings involved though and he's one of the more insightful commentators out of the teams I watch regularly.

Foley is a homer, but he's also a local broadcaster. As far as that goes there are two types of homers, good homers and bad homers. Foley is a good homer. He can love on the home team but still call an exciting game both ways. On the other hand I have to put up with the Avs guy regularly and that guy makes me want to chug bleach when the other team is doing well, he's just so friggin depressing about anything that's not a play in the Avs favor.

This is my opinion as well ^

Tree turdy tree is done every single game at least once. The jokes are old and stale, yet they still go on and on.

I love listening to Troy and John on the radio, so much more tolerable.

I love the fact that the 'Hawks are doing so well right now we've taken to complaining about the commentators.

EddieO sees and reports stuff at live full speed, that many argue about incessantly on HF, even after having seen it multiple times on slow mo replay.

The guy has played great at all levels, coached at all levels and people don't like his insights.

I love his backhanded complements he always gives Detroit.

When Foley is actually doing the play by play and Eddie is talking about the game, they are not bad. The problem is they are like on a loop game after game. They say the EXACT same jokes/sayings/etc every single game. It's brutal to listen to.

Forwards have the D. D have the forwards.

Sorry, that was a subtle little play on something he says!

Edzo is good. His drive to be the top national color voice will keep him objective. I think he has slowed down how closely he follows the rest of the league, he seems not to offer quite as much as he was able to from a couple years ago. I thought he was brutal 5 years ago.

Foley, still a good voice and he doesn't "go homer" too often. If he was on radio as well, I think he would be a little sharper and less distracted.

Wideman, and excellent radio play by play. I really like him.

Murray, way too whiny. I don't need to hear about 20 missed calls a game and I don't like him dragging Wideman down about blown calls. Maybe Troy went to Redmond's color commentary school.

Konroyd is fine as a fill in. He's a little more careful with his thoughts, I think he'll be a little stronger in a couple years.

I want no part of Roenick. I would hate to have my sensibilities insulted on a regular basis because of the disease that separates his brain from his mouth.

It seems like everyone in this thread has said he knows hockey, he's just annoying to listen too.

Having met him in a person, I'm not a fan personally. Alpha bro is putting it very nicely.

Edzo was really cool. I met him at a BWW and talked with him for a few minutes. Then he gave me a shout-out during a preseason game. Also talked to him in Nashville after. Great guy.

I'm kinda stunned at the hate for tree-turdy-tree. Crack a smile everytime, keep on keepin' on Foley and Eddie O.
