Its been one season dude... Richards and carter were dealt because we werent going to win with them the message was clear. Im glad they won a cup somewhere else but these trades have set our franchise in another direction for the next decade. Youre being completely ignorant but i wouldnt expect anything else if youre an LA fan. I doubt you even knew the kings existed 10 years ago

In regards to the Kessel trade nobody looks at it that way. Its looked at as a win for Boston solely because the players they received and their potential....it was clear they didnt need kessel

You're clearly showing you no little to nothing about hockey, Philly made out like bandits on those deals. Richards and Carter were playing supporting player roles for the big dogs on that roster to win a Stanley Cup. The Kings win that cup with Schenn and Simmonds sorry but it's true lol. Quick was unreal and Kopitar and company played out of their minds. So stop using a cups to evaluate players talent level when they weren't the big reasons why they won.

Only naming off 90s-00s trades cause I don't want to name off the past trades I wasn't alive for...so I'll name off the ones I do remember, which are the few memorable and happy trades the habs made and then the many bad trades the habs made...

Best trades:
1) Robert Picard for Winnipegs 3rd round pick (Patrick Roy)
2) Shayne Corson + Brent Gilchrist for Edmonton's Vincent Damphousse
3) Craig Rivet for San Jose's Josh Gorges + 1st round pick (Max Pacioretty)
4) Josef Balej for NYR's Alexei Kovalev

Worst trades:
1) Patrick Roy + Mike Keane for Colorado's Jocelyn Thibault + Martin Rucinsky + Andrei Kovalenko
2) Pierre Turgeon + Craig Conroy for St Louis' Shayne Corson + Murra Baron + 5th round
3) Chris Chelios for Chicago's declining Denis Savard
4) Vincent Damphousse for San Jose's 1st, 2nd and 5th round picks that turned into 2 nobodies and Marcel Hossa
5) Ryan Mcdonagh + Chris Higgins for NYR's Scott Gomez
6) Mike Ribeiro for Dallas' Janne Niinimaa

That deal is great for the B's regardless of them winning.

And the value Philly got in return for Carter and Richards was incredible. They were great trades, not sure what your talking about.

As a Kings fan I disagree with that statement, Carter and Richards were huge in the Cup win, on the other side the overall value Philly received in those trades was great, it's a win-win deal for both franchises, Philly got young talent to grow with for next years, while LA was in a win now mode and got a player who helped them win, in addition to Carter later on.

Hope Schenn and Simmonds continue their success in Philadelphia.

NJD

Best: Tom Kurvers for Toronto's 1st (Scott Niedermayer)

Worst: Honestly tough to say a truly awful trade for NJ. Pat Verbeek to Hartford for Sylvain Turgeon, although Turgeon scored 30 in his one season in NJ, and was flipped to MTL for Claude Lemieux. Back to Rockies days, the 1980 1st round pick swap with Montreal that involved Sean Shanahan to Colorado but gave the Canadiens the 1st overall pick is the worst trade in franchise history. Habs screwed the pick, but Dave Babych, Denis Savard, Larry Murphy or Paul Coffey all could have been had.

The Neely trade is one of the leagues all time best and the Kessel trade was good as well, but maybe since I am old the trade for Esposito, Hodge, and Stanfield is what I think is the best deal of all time. I think it is the only deal in history where a team acquired 2 50+ goal scorers in one deal.

I know the Neely and a 1st deal has all kinds on additional trades working it's way all the way to Lucic today, but the Espo deal also yielded Brad Park, Jean Ratelle, and Rick Middleton making it a deal that produced 3 50 goal scorers, 3 hall of famers, 2 stanley cups, and a few finals appearences. It is the one I see as the best deal of all time by any team.

LOL @ winning the cup with Schenn and Simmonds. I'm not even surw if the Kings would have made the playoffs.

Best trade? Richards and Carter. They helped win the Kings the cup. It helps me forget about the bad ones. Carter is a damn beast though.

Toronto's got a pretty bad history.

We've directly or indirectly given up Scott Niedermayer, Luongo, Seguin/Hamilton, Rask, 1st round pick in 2003 draft (Kesler, Perry, Richards, etc would have all still been available, I think the pick itself turned into Stuart or something though), etc.

Leafs history is full of examples of "draft shmaft", sacrificing the future for the present, etc. They havent' drafted in the top 4 since 1989, but have given up three picks in that range in that time-span, all of whom became (or in Seguins case look like they will become) perennial All-Stars/franchise players.

Draft Schmaft: Toronto traded a 1st round pick to the New Jersey Devils for an offensively capable but otherwise undistinguished defenseman Tom Kurvers. That pick ended up the #3 pick overall and landed the Devils Scott Niedermayer. Kurvers played only one full season (89 games total over two seasons) for the Leafs before himself being traded for the utterly anonymous Brian Bradley.

Toronto trades Bernie Parent and a 2nd round pick in 1973 to the Philadelphia Flyers for a 1st round pick in 1973 (Bob Neely).

Best trade: the Gilmour trade

Isles:

Best:

Bob Lorimar for a 1st (LaFontaine)

Harris and Lewis for Butch Goring (although we are now cursed for this since he is our color commentator and his 'butch-isms' are unreal).

Minnesota traded J.P. Parise to New York Islanders for Ernie Hicke and Doug Rombough.

Honorable Mention - NOT trading our first pick in 1973 to Montreal and drafting Denis Potvin.

Worst:

Luongo and Jokinen for Parrish and Kvasha

Chara, 1st (Spezza) and Muckalt for Yashin

Bertuzzi, McCabe for Linden

PLEASE, CAN I STOP NOW???

The agony of it all . . .

Yep, no argument here.

The Sens best & worst trades are pretty much set in stone at this point, save for the odd fan who is still enraged about the Lee-for-Gilroy deal.

I'd say, value wise, the best trade for the Blues was the Gretzky deal.

Craig Johnson, Patrice Tardiff, Roman Vopat, a 5th and a 1st for the (arguably) greatest player of all time? Who knew then that Keenan would screw it up bad enough that we'd lose him after a few dozen games. The value was a grand slam for the Blues.

Worst of all-time is the Pronger deal. The Courtnall deal was awful to, but in terms of value, Pronger was one of the best defenseman in the league.

The Leafs didn't trade Seguin, Knight, and Hamilton for Kessel - they traded two 1sts and a 2nd. Not a bad deal considering it would have cost us two 1sts and two 2nds if we had offer sheeted this player who has gone on to record over 100 goals in a Leafs uniform since the deal was completed.

Best Trade(s):
The 10 player Gilmour swap
Felix Potvin for Bryan Berard
Beauchemin for Lupul and Gardiner

Worst Trade(s):
1st round pick (Niedermayer) for Tom Kurvers
Russ Courtnall for John Kordic
Jason Smith for a mid round draft choice
Rask for Raycroft
