This presupposes that ROR is willing to sign an offer sheet and thereby give Colorado even the opportunity to retain him. Maybe he is willing, maybe he isn't. We don't know that at this point.

Avs have 3+ years of controlling ROR. We can wait potentially that long to trade him, or if we don't get the right trade, we can still bite the bullet and resign him to the 5M.

In fact, I have a feeling if ROR isn't traded by the offseason, theres still a decent chance he'll sign with the Avs once we see what some of the other RFAs get in the offseason.
I believe the rules are 7 years of service OR 27 years old. So if he doesn't play this year, with 3 years already played, any team acquiring him after this season would control him for another FOUR years.

Been said by folks that have no clue what ROR is thinking.

What i see here is col fans in denial of their worst fear and thats ROR signing a big offer sheet, like a 27.5m over 5 years.

They don't want the picks as compensation and they would rather not have ROR on the roster for say 5.5m.

And for those that think ROR is going to sit back and watch this entire season get flushed down the toilet, well good luck with that kiddos.

Ottawa fans value Silf more, not sure about management. Personally, I'd rather keep our two guys. We don't need RoR, with Turris on the roster. Our strength is centres, our weakness is skilled wingers. What's the point of increasing our strength and weakening our weakness?

If we trade Silf + 1st for RoR, I'll burn Scotia Bank Place to the ground.

Correct. So he won't give them an opportunity to bring him back by signing an offer sheet.

I think there has to be a resolution to this in the next week or so if he's going to be traded. The Avs would be dumb to risk an early-March offer sheet. If they matched, they couldn't trade him for a minimum of one year, but one year from early-March will be after the 2013-14 trade deadline. If they matched, it'd be the most awkward situation we've seen in a long while.

Silf , Hoffman, Stone are the future Sens..Untouchable

For ROR I would not give more than a package with Greening or Bishop + A regin or latendress type player.

It would be nice if you were informed.

You're confusing our biggest fear with our biggest WISH. If that were to happen and the compensation was crappy, as you put it, Avs management would then just exercise their right to match the offer and be able to say "WE didn't give him that contract out of entry level....X team did".

Which is what this whole thing is about, which is what part of the lockout was about.

IF the Avs were one of the teams pushing for teams NOT to give insane money to players coming out of Entry Level during the lockout, don't you think it would look pretty bad on them if they handed RoR the kind of contract you're suggesting?

I would rather have ROR sign an offersheet and rejoin the avs than the majority of trade proposals on here. Avs fans have been hoping for an offer sheet for a long time, but it's not going to happen.

If RoR TRULY never wants to play for the Avs again, he won't take that risk and won't sign an offer sheet...at all.

This is pretty much like the lock-out all over again. The only leverage that ROR has is an offersheet that he says he doesn't want to use. COL can just sit back and wait for an offer that they can't refuse, or ROR can sign a deal that they can stomach, and then trade him on a decent deal. I don't see how this is resolved anytime soon unless ROR comes down on his demands or if COL gets a deal that they can't refuse.

Our 2013 1st round pick is going nowhere.

No thank you, Buff is not appealing at all in a ROR trade, and when you consider that we're getting him for Siemens and our 1st it becomes a **** no.

Our 1st and Siemens (he's our only LH defensive defenseman with top pairing potential) are off limits.

ROR, Siemens (11th overall) , and our 2013 1st (top 5-8) is a MASSIVE package.

No deal to be had with those assets.
