I hope and think Gardiner will be a Leaf mainstay for a long time. I'm comfortable with keeping him with the Marlies if that's what the brain-thrusts running the Leafs think is best.

I dont want ROR at all, add some assets and get a more complete centre, not just a really defensive one with average offense.
I'd say he's better. Don't want him though, to much of a drama queen.

I want Finn and not Gardiner as our future #1 D.

Now that Gardiner has been overhyped the leafs should trade him for a center or a solid goalie.

Yeah I don't think NHL GMs are quite as impressible by "hype" as posters on here.

I can see Liles going, but when exactly was the last time that Dreger had a rumour that turned out to be true?

Neither are really prospects that will be a number one defensemen unless we are extremely desperate.

Pretty much.

I'd be surprised but things could be interesting who knows. I give us 5 more games before we decide to barter players or make moves for better.

When was either one projected to even become close to a 1 Dman?

What is up with Matt Finn? What injury is he nursing? is it a chronic concern?

EDIT: just looked - Mono - Better than I expected. Kept on looking for him in the lineup, that explains it.

I've been saying this for a while now.

The time to strike is now.

Carlyle is just a genius. He's getting rid of the second year blues by putting him on the Marlies. It's genius!!!! Actually, don't blame this on Kostka, he has actually been very good this year, and can play in any situation. You need a swiss army knife like that on the blue-line.

Blame this on Franson's development into a solid top 6 d-man. I expect Gardiner to make the team next year though

Matt Finn isn't projected to be anything close to a #1 D, neither is Gardiner. Ideally, they together make a great second pairing behind Rielly and Dion

Not so smart to trade a building block in Gardiner. Overhyped or not, this is the type of moves this franchise has made over the past 30 years that has set them back.

So, you want to trade Gards, but, you can't give us any suggestions on who we should target?

We could have packaged him for Rick Nash just last year...

I'm sure there's going to be another deal to be had.

Rick Nash made it quite clear he wanted to be a Ranger. He did not express any desire to be a Leaf as far as I know.

This doesn't really make any sense. I hate it when people complain for the sake of complaining without offering a solution just as much as the rest but this is not one of them. I'm sure that there are many, many people who he or myself would like to trade Gardiner for but since we are not in charge of anything we have no idea what is available.

Unless, of course, you really don't have any idea who would be a good option to trade Gardiner for

Trade JML, amnesty Grabo if you cannot trade him. Liles is irrelevant right now. Just doesn't fit in anywhere.

Like the person I agreed with said....a center or a goalie.

You want precise players, well newsflash, i am not an insider and i have no idea who is available and who isnt.

I'm not expecting that you'll be able to know exactly who would be available. I just want to see some suggestions on players you think would be worth trading Gards for. No need to know their availability, however, I just want to know what we fans would want to get in return for Gards. Simple question on who you would try to trade him for.

Someone around the same age and contract status who plays center or goalie.

Im not opposed to trading for someone of Nash's calibre, but I'm not a big fan of creating a hole just to fill another.

Should also take into consideration of the age bracket, if we are dealing youth we should atleast aim for someone around the same age so the team is in sync.

All in all, players like Gardiner and Rielly are the ones you build your team around. Leafs should keep adding assets and make a deal when the time and price is right.

Gardiner looks like he's toying with children down there. He'll make a sloppy play and effotlessly regroup. He looks like he's QB'ing the powerplay in a rocking chair. Seems like a bit of a pointless exercise to keep him down there at this time.
