I guess underrated might not have been the right term but I would say he's often overlooked on these boards. He never seems to come up in discussions about how prospects are performing and what the the Wild lines will look like in the future. It's probably because he's still a few years away and doesn't play in the AHL or WCHA which makes it a bit tougher to keep tabs on him. I just think he should get a little more love around here.

I think he doesn't come up on what Wild lines will look like because we're talking about a guy who's 3-4yrs away from being an option for the Wild anyway.

You don't see much for Haula either, and he is in the WCHA and he will be turning pro at the end of the season, and I think most expect him to make it to the NHL. He will likely need a couple years in Houston before he's in the discussion himself.

Interesting. Lets say PMB and Cullen are traded and one of our depth forwards struggles, which open up regular spots for Coyle, Zucker, and Larsson.

Lets also say Kuemper becomes a regular as well.

What does our new top 10 look like without Granlund, Brodin, Coyle, Larsson, Zucker and Kuemper?

For me it would be...

1. D Matt Dumba
2. G Matt Hackett
3. LW Mario Lucia
4. D Marco Scandella
5. RW Adam Gilmour
6. C Zack Phillips
7. G Johan Gustafsson
8. LW Raphael Bussieres
9. C Erik Haula
10. D John Draeger

I mean, my last 5 guys are pretty much interchangeable with guys like Graovac, Gunnarsson and Bulmer. Obviously, the 2013 draft will help improve that, but its great to see we have a solid depth of players coming in the next wave.

It wasn't too long ago that we didn't have hopes for a "next" wave, we didn't even have a "first" wave, with Gillies as our #1 prospect.

From the looks of it, alot of the higher top-end guys are about to become Wild regulars and the next wave is a whole bunch of cheap depth prospects that will round the team off nicely.

So its more like ... not talked about rather than being underrated or under-appreciated. We all know how talented he is, we just rather be talking about the guys that are starting to wear the Wild jersey this season.

Figured that was the case, just wanted to make sure he gets some attention. After all, scoring almost a point per game as a freshman in college hockey is no small feat.

Well... he was being talked about on the last page too...

Does Lucia remind anybody of Heatly? When I watch him play that's the player that I see. I'm not saying they'll have similar career numbers but that's style of player I see.

Technically nobody could hit 65 games so all will be considered prospects next year.

But if I take out the guys who will likely graduate next year:

1. Dumba
T2. Hackett
T2. Lucia
T2. Haula
T2. Gustafsson
T2. Kuemper
T7. Graovac
T7. Bussieres
T7. Phillips
10. Gunnarsson

Yeah, remember the days when all we had to look forward to were guys like Wanvig, Foy, O'Sullivan and Voloshenko?

Eero Elo has been traded from Lukko to Ässät in FEL. According to Jatkoaika.com, he needed a "change of environment". Apparently, he's got a wicked wrister... and that's about it. Big body, but slow on his skates, doesn't like to put the effort or get into a proper place to actually use that lethal shot of his.

If only we could him and Antti Miettinen combined... He seemed to have OK everything, especially the knack for finding open ice, but his shot was... something else. Not in a good way, either.

I can definitely see why GMDR would take a chance on him in the late rounds, especially if he saw that shot while scouting in Finland. Just some thoughts that popped into my mind when reading a thread about him.

Well to be fair O'Sullivan did well in Houston and was a hot commodity. Voloshenko had drugs problems but that's speculation

how good do people think dumba will be? subban a real comparison? because for the wilds sake thats a good defender. I'm somewhat skeptical he may not turn out to be all that; I hope he turns out to be great. that would really fill another hole on the blue line if he can step in the next 3 or 4 years? and that still puts him at 22 or 23 which is young

loving that he has 12 pts in his last 10 games and has gotten his +/- up since returning.

I think that is a good comparison in the limited amount of games I've seen Dumba play. He has a great slapper, lays big hits, and has good skating ability, and so-so defense. Sounds just like PK. I am also a huge PK fan so this would be a dream come true for me if he is able to develop that kind of skillset. The wild could use a player like him for our PP.

SO HOT RIGHT NOW

Graovac 3gp 4-3=7 +4
Kampfer 2gp 1-3=4
Gustafsson 2gp 1w 1.50ga 1so

PHILLIPS WATCH

2gp 0-1=1 +1

NOTES

I think Connelly, Scandella, Foucault, Palmer, Cuma, Broda, Bulmer, and Caron are all injured.

Graovac the last three weeks has ELEVEN goals and SIXTEEN points in only NINE games. He is +11 in that span. And he has overtaken Bussieres as the highest scoring prospect this year.

Dumba quietly putting up numbers since his Wild vacation.

He's got the size and it looks like he has some skill...the best part is that he's playing college hockey so the Wild have a while to let him develop at BC before they need to give him a roster spot with Houston.

I wouldn't consider myself a smart prospect person but dancchan is and when I mentioned it last page he agreed.
