Elias - chose to re-sign out of loyalty. Nothing against the Kings (or any other team).
Chara - likes that Boston is an original-6, they're in the East and they gave him a no-trade clause. Likely nothing against the Kings.
Shanahan - he liked the idea of playing for the Rangers, an original-6 team with a long history, a huge market and a lot of media exposure.
Lindros - this is the only one where I wonder if the player didn't like something about the Kings or the city, but I'm not really bothered.

As a counter-example:
Thornton - never won a Cup, but signed with down-and-out L.A., anyways. Also, he's an avid cyclist who could've gone to a lot of cities better suited for that kind of sport. For the past few days, I've been perplexed (in a good sort of way) about why he did sign with the Kings.

As Ray Ferraro has stated, LA is not seen as a legitimate Cup contender on a regular basis and LA must overpay to draw the attenton of top UFAs. If there is no overpayment, the top UFA won't even look at LA.

Why didn't Chara, Elias, Shanahan, Lindros etc. sign with the Sharks? The Ducks? The Coyotes? The Canucks?

We did sign Blake, Thornton, McCauley, Willsie. That's not too shabby of a haul. It's not like we got shut out of the FA market.

lol - you do remember it's Scott, not Joe, right?

Scott Thornton is a 4th line mucker. He's gonna sign with the first team that gives him a decent offer.

Blake is probably the only guy on that list that was getting offers from more than 2 or 3 teams. The Kings more than likely offered Thornton, McCauley and Willsie more money than the other team(s) were. If Blake did not have a connection with LA already he probably would not have signed here either.

Because you're engaged. No reason for them to come now. You dashed their hopes of making a honest woman out of you for themselves.

Why do you think Pavol wanted to be traded?

Maybe its a location thing. Not too many players from the East and/or Canada want to move out to the far West without some prior connection. Its not like the Ducks or Sharks are wooing huge free agents, either (with the exception of Niedermayer).

There are various factors why a player may not choose LA. They might not like the fact that it is such a huge city. The traffic. They may not like the weather/climate and hustle and bustle of the city. They don't want to relocate their families in a different time zone or coast. They want to be close to home. The cost of living is expensive. There are so many reasons why a player may not desire to move to LA. And most importantly, the travel players on the west coast have to endure is the worst of any team in the league.

Elias didn't want to move. Chara wanted to stay in the east coast and in other cases, other teams were offering more or a player had a certain destination set in his mind.

Yeah, too bad the brothers of Elias, Chara and Lindros aren't in the NHL. Maybe if he hired Brett Lindros...

So you're considered a homer for taking Burke over Lombardi?

So typical…

Crawford = bad choice to coach this team
Cloutier = horrible decision bringing this awful goalie here
Blake = old, past his prime, over-paid, etc.

I can judge what he has done with this team... so far.

It's pretty obvious that Hockey Nut's game is to come on here and talk trash about the Kings while trying to invoke heated responses. I'm going to give this a shot, so here it goes: Hockey Nut, I am politely requesting that you leave us be here. If you contribute positively, without the intentions of frustrating us Kings' fans, then we wouldn't mind having you here. Obviously I'm not a moderator, so I'm not allowed to tell you to leave, therefore I'm asking you nicely.

I understand this particular poster has a reputation, but I have to take each post on a case by case basis. While his posts in this particular thread may not be something Kings fan may want to hear, we all need to have a certain degree of thick skin around here.

I don't bother to respond to certain posts. If a tree falls in the forest...

Please take these issues to the Report Post function or to PM.
