Looking forward to seeing extended minutes for Yakupov with RNH and Eberle in Chicago to start 9 game roadie
What's funny is Yakupov actually retweeted that.

It's pretty interesting to see how different European / Russian players get treated on this team compared to the Canadian kids.

When did Hall, Eberle or RNH ever play on the fourth line?

Do you mean Canadian kids like Gagner who's played some games on the 4th line?

True, I can't recall if he ever had to play the fourth line in his rookie year or if that was just under Quinn who made all sorts of mind boggling line combinations.

From what I understand, Oilers look as follows to start:

Smyth-Hopkins-Eberle
Paajarvi-Gagner-Hemsky
Eager-Belanger-Jones
Petrell-VandeVelde-Yakupov

N.Schultz-J.Schultz
Smid-Petry
Fistric-Potter

Khabibulin
Dubnyk

krueger with another strange personnel decision... khabi looked lost in the phoenix game, couldn't find the puck on most of the goal-mouth scrambles and was slow to his posts on wrap-arounds... terrible decision

I don't like yak on the fourth line I don't like the two Schultz still together, I don't like smyth on the fourth line, and I don't like Dubby sitting for so long.

But I guess that's why He's the coach and I'm not

I am really starting to lose patience with this coach.

Yak on the 4th line? Khabby starting?

Yakupov should either be with Gagner/Hemsky or Ebs/RNH... there is so reason to weigh him down with anchors on the 4th line.

As for Khabby... his puck reaction is so painfully slow. I was not impressed with him in the Phoenix game for the most part. This is Dooby-Doo's team... he should be getting this start.

Why is Yak not being given the opportunity to succeed? Am I missing something? Last game he looked really good in second and to start the third, was key in Eberle's goal but then sat out most of the third and OT. I feel like other teams skilled rookies are getting to PLAY through the learning curve and growing pains yet Yak is sent to play on checking lines. How is he supposed to succeed in that situation? I am all for him learning the game as a whole but he is an offensive player not a 4th line checker. When did Hall, Eberle or Nuge EVER have to play the 4th line or with Smyth and Belanger types. Sigh.

I have a feeling that a lot of the personnel decisions made by the Oilers' coaching staff come from upper-management. If true that just exemplifies how confused this organization really is.

Last year. Smyth played on the top two lines all season and Belanger saw PP time.

They're probably just trying to teach Yak some defence or else want him on the right side? Otherwise I have no idea why he's on the 4th line and can't think of anything that justifies it.

I want to like Krueger, but he's making bonehead decisions that are just stupid. Paajarvi with Hemsky and Gagner? Really? I like the guy, but he shows no offence whatsoever. In fact, he plays better and thrives when he plays in the bottom six with a guy like Hartikainen. Paajarvi is just not a top 6 player and shouldn't be there over Yakupov.

It looks like Yakupov is being given the Barry Melrose treatment.

I feel like I'm watching a different Yakupov than everyone else. He is too often lost out there and it is scary when the puck is on his stick in the neutral zone. Constantly giving it up and circling back to his defense, he really needs to learn how to play in the defensive and neutral zone. If he simplified his game and used his speed and physical play to go after pucks he would be a lot easier to trust.

QFT.

you are not the only one. I don't mind that they are picking their spots with him.

Krueger is confusing me with his infatuation with Khabibulin but I agree with the way he's handling Yakupov. He looks really overwhelmed out there despite (very small) bursts of brilliance.

The difference is they were playing with Smyth in a top 6 offensive role in that situation not on the 3rd or 4th line in a checking role. Different situation.

this is what I see as well...and the Yak fans on here remind me of the Swedish omark fans...like having 10+ Russian Nachos.
