I've been thinking about this and I have decided to just admit it.

I predict the Red Sox will make the playoffs.

Xander Bogaerts is up with 2 outs and the game on the line. RBI single up the middle. Cuts the Rays lead to 4-3.

it was kind of funny listening to the game and hearing joe and whoever was with him today (i think it was rob bradford) and them discussing last year's troubles without a mention of the words "bobby" or "valentine".

Just made a 50 dollar bet with somebody that the Sox will finish within 8 games of 3rd (but not finish in last).

i've been reading a lot of people who think baltimore repeats last year.

i'm not sold. 29-9 in one-run games? 16-2 in extras? it's basically asking their bullpen to repeat what they pretty much all did with little support from the offense or the still developing starting pitching.

My thoughts exactly. I honestly think they come in 5th. Their pitching doesn't impress me.

Shaughnessy wrote a glass half empty column today, but I spent a lot of time studying the Orioles for the league I'm in and they have more holes than Boston.

They do have Weiters, Jones, Markakus and young kid stud like Machado, and trending up first baseman Chris Davis for a potentially strong offense for a change. But the starting pitching is very questionable to me- Hammel, Chen, Gonzalez I'll believe it when I see it again. I like Tillman and Bundy on the way but right now not buying

Granderson just broke is forearm today...

Rays have Myers but lost two pretty good arms including one top one in Shields.

Blue Jays do look strong- that I'll give you, but A-Rod and Jeter left side dominance in NY may be over sooner than we think.

I hate doing conditionals but if Ortiz gets 130 games and they get close to 550+ IP from Lackey,Buchholz, and Lester they win over 86 games and probably get a playoff spot even if last wild card

their rotation

Jason Hammel- Colorado reject, 30, coming off knee injury, pretty good whip and good arm but not sold once he gets to 180 plus IP
Chen- got hammered late, not great stuff, once around block they figured out
Gonzalez- Mexican discovery has funky stuff and knows what he's doing but we'll see how he does sophomore season

Tillman- love, but never had big innings

bullpen was specatucular, lost a key guy to Boston- Strop was meat at the end, and is whispy body. like O'Day but bounced around- also,Matusz could be really good

Alot hinges on if that kid Bundy lives up to the hype for the O's. They havent really developed an all star caliber starter since Bedard

Long term, I think he will live up to the billing. This year, I can't see him making a huge impact, unless it's down the stretch.

I know this question is probably not welcome here, but what do Red Sox fans think of the Blue Jays chances this year?

Already plan on it.

Another one of those idiots/friends bet me ten bucks I couldn't polish off a bag of cinnamon toast crunch in 12 hours.

At this point, employment might be pointless

Of course its welcome I think Blue Jays are favorites in the East along with Rays. But Reyes and Johnson need to stay healthy. Should be make the wild card play in at very least.

In Toronto, Farrell facing the Jays this week is getting buzz. How much of a buzz is there from a Red Sox perspective? The Sox are bringing a split squad. Good on Farrell to show up and hopefully put this story to rest. I imagine it'll be a story in Toronto every time these two teams play this year but I'm already sick of it.

Frankenstein teams very rarely seem to work out for some reason. Based on the talent on paper, you'd have to figure the Jays are the front runners to win the division, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them struggle for at least part of the season. That being said, they clearly should be much better than last year.

It's early preseason baseball, is there really a need to see it?

If they limit his innings, I sure hope they do a better job than Washington did with Strasburg.

Wanna see something really great? Check out Dylan Bundy's numbers in A ball last year.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/mi...d=bundy-000dyl

30 IP, 5 hits, zero earned runs, 2 BB, 40 K

I can't wait to see what he's able to do in the next 3-5 years.

Webster fans Bautista, Encarnacion, Arencibia and Lawrie in a row. Big arm. Hit 99, sat 94-97.

Where does he start the year?

I like your phrase "Frankenstein teams". I also think they should be a better team than last year, but am cautiously optimistic about their chances to make the play-offs for the first time since '93.
