Also, TCF I think had trouble with piping during the winter at that Vikings game that had to be quickly handled? Anyone remember those specifics?
i believe that was in regards to keeping the field warm so they were not being tackled on concrete turf lol

Edit: also with piping freezing up in the washrooms i wanna say??? i believe they fixed that tho

I'd pick the Wild first and then the Oilers.

Lets see if they can even get it opened for the season. The way things have gone with this stadium I could see the NHL game be bungled somehow and an embarrassment on an international level.

Those mystery high winds during one of the nicest winters we had in history are killer

Minnesota makes sense.. They will be our biggest rivals whether they like it or not. Another to consider would be Boston. We rise to the occasion when playing them and their fan base is my first choice when picking one to celebrate the day with.

I got chills just thinking about this. Would love to see Essensa put the pads on again!

Gotta say, the thought of the Wild just bores me.

I'd rather it be Chicago, Edmonton, Vancouver, Ottawa.

Perhaps in time I'll grow to care about the Wild/ Jets playing each other but after watching years of Minnesota dull the Oilers to death I just can't imagine getting pumped for a game against them.

My first thought was to pick the Wild strictly for geography and a chance to stoke a new rivalry, but I admit they're not all that thrilling. That said, if Parise and Suter can lead the Wild to some good seasons while Kane/Bogo/Scheifele/Trouba are anchoring the Jets, I can see it being a much more attractive matchup!

There have only been two Heritage Classics. Both were broadcast on CBC, and featured two Canadian teams.

You know CBC would prefer two Canadian teams again - they get much better ratings for all-Canadian matchups. If NBC was involved they would likely want two American teams - the Jets are not a big draw in the US market.

Thus, I think I can almost guarantee that a Heritage Classic would involve two Canadian teams. It's not just what the Jets would want, but rather what their broadcast partners would want.

Since Calgary, Edmonton and Montreal (twice!) have had outdoor games, and the Leafs will have one next year, and CBC seems to relegate Winnipeg-Ottawa games to less than peak times, I think the likely matchup is:

Canucks - Jets.

Actually as Yukon Joe mentions the Heritage Classic was created for Canadian teams. The Winter classic is for the American teams. Hence anything being played here outdoors would be Canadian teams.

I can see one being played here in the near future. As far as next 2014, possibly too soon. I would assume Bomber brass would like to get a Grey Cup here before allowing the NHL to have a big venue event there.

Edit: Lets just clarify that I meant have a Grey Cup game here....not have the Bombers bring one home. We could be waiting a long time!

I'd like it to be Winnipeg and Minnesota, but due to the need to sell it on TV, I would expect it to be Winnipeg and Vancouver.

If it's in Winnipeg I'd rather a team like Columbus so we have a better chance of winning... lol...

Naw, but seriously Minnesota would be great.

The thing is, I doubt Minnesota ever gets involved with a Winter Classic in the future.

Folks from minnesota and ND would want to come to that game, I'm guessing.
If Teemu is even retired by then! Haha

Minnesota. Heritage Classic doesn't HAVE to be just Canadian teams against each other any more than the Winter Classic does. Hockey is part of Minnesotas heritage just as much as ours.

Lol. One good thing about Saskatchewan getting a team is that it would allow some Manitoba fans to deflect their inferiority complex over to an even smaller market.

The Wild would be tops can't wait to develop a real rivalry with them (friendly of course I just can't hate Minneapolis or Minnesotans love the people and the place).

The Nords would be awesome too if they come back (I desperately hope they do and it is looking promising).
