I think the only reason Kristo isn't top 3 or 4 on our list is because they have to sign him and want to try and keep him from pulling a "Schultz", or expecting to go right to NHL this year. Being a RW there will be a spot for him soon with Cole and Gio getting up there in age.
That loop hole closed for Kristo last summer. Now it's Mac Bennett that can opt out and become a UFA this summer, he must do so before June 1st.
Danny hit the 20 goal mark in 30 games AND is 3rd overall in NCAA scoring! Is he getting serious? Looks like it. I know we have a lot of great rookies, but this one holds my interest more than others for some reason.

My major interest is that he is more polished than most of our other prospects (although he does have holes). He's the kind of guy you can look into sticking in the top-9 in case of injuries once his season ends.

We'll have to see how he translates to the pros but i'd say he's easily one of our most skilled prospects and quickest. I think he needs to improve his lower body strength but he's got a very interesting mix of speed/shot/passing with a high compete level in the offensive zone. Should be very interesting to see how he does in the AHL.

I find it a bit odd that despite playing extra years in the NCAA, where one of the main positives is supposed to be more gym time to build up physically, that he still has a lower body strength problem. Or is it only a minor problem?

We'll see if it's more of a minor problem when he goes up against bigger, stronger players but his speed and acceleration help him a lot. He does look like he's bulked up a good bit upper body wise though, saw him do an interview inbetween periods and he did look bigger then I recall.

I think so highly of Kristo that for me, he's an untouchable at this point. This guy has an incredible ceiling. Clearly top 6 material and PP specialist. Pure offense but it's not like we have tons of those. And his defensive game is underrated as he's putting more emphasis on it and can play the body even if he's not initiating a whole lot. I love the kid and think that it will be a big mistake if we happen to move him. And I just have no doubt that he'll shine right from the start in the AHL.

IMO untouchable is a little extreme, but you have watched him more than I have so to each their own...but to me he's a top 5 prospect at best. I think it would be foolish to move him now, but him and Collberg are pretty interchangable at this point...Kristo is just much closer to the NHL. Neither of them are going to be a star I think, but this team can use all the skill it can get. I know we need size and all that, but we desperately need skilled wingers too.
Don't forget he shouldn't be playing in the NCAA this year to begin with. He was ready for the AHL by the end of last year.

So the implication, even considering the college antics, is that he wanted to give back to the institution that helped him? Sounds like we have a character guy here.

Untouchable ? Not even for Crosby or Stamkos ? Not for Yakupov or RNH ? Not for Seth Jones or Drouin ?

Well that, or he just wanted another year of partying with coeds instead of working hard. But this year has made a leader out of him, so it's not fully wasted.

Chasing "coeds", let alone "partying with them", should be an olympic event. Two of my brothers were found naked, with batman masks glued to their faces, after attending a sorority "social". Make no mistake! Kristo's 4 years in the NCAA will pay off for us. He has experienced a level of hedonism that would make Montreal look like Salt Lake City.

Clearly you haven't experienced Montreal to its fullest...

What I like about him is that he can pass!
I think he could even slot in next year and have success! I wish. We need a passing winger.
I have watched almost every one of Kristo's games this year. Players can never do enough off-ice training. There is always room to improve, I am totally agreeing with that. I am wondering why people here think Kristo's strength is a weakness. I never see him get knocked over, and he rarely loses board battles. He is one of, if not the, most explosive skaters in the NCAA, which can at least be partially attributed to his leg strength. I am just curious what I am missing that people want to label him as weak.
He isn't a power forward, he is a playmaker that is extremely elusive. His strength is going around people, not through them. Just because he doesn't out muscle people on a consistent basis, doesn't mean he can't do it. It just means that other parts of his game are strong enough that he doesn't need to do it, at least at the college level.

I think they mean that in the pros, he would struggle without adding more strength to his core which is normal for 99% of prospects making the jump.

'Cause obviously, those guys are NEVER in play so he's untouchable as far as trying to remotely make a transaction that will obviously never be at the level you're talking about.
For me the guy is a keeper. Obviously, everybody has their price but I believe that he's our up and coming Ryder, the guy most are happy to see coming since he's a sniper and all. We don,t have a lot of those in the system.
Clearly you haven't experienced Montreal to its fullest...
I grew up in Montreal and then spent a few years in a US college town.
Different style.
Montreal has a lot of bars open until 3am, and kids can drink at age 18 without getting arrested.
In college towns, you party at house parties, and it goes on until 4am or 5am and it quite extreme in a different way specifically because it's not done outdoors.
Next time you're in a place like Durham, Columbus, Gainesville, etc pass by the Greek houses to get a sense. It's not Crescent Street, it's something else.
