Stanley Cup year with the Hawks, 19 games 4 goals and 4 assists. I wouldn't call that disappearing.

As long as Burke is not the architect. Can't give that guy any credit.

Let's just start with who on the Capitals has one.

There is only one thing more painful than learning from experience and that is not learning from experience.

AFAIR McPhee scouted Hannan long before trading for him. Same with Ribeiro, right?

Probably he will leave Schultz here until the end of his contract and then just sign UFA )) Or smth like that. I'm not ready to expect Schultz on the move.

If George will trade/waive Poti and Hamrlik it will be good enough for the start

But I guess the "2LD" problem is obvious for GMGM, anyway.

7th could be Schilling or Kundratek, Erskine could be 6th. There is no other place for Schultz than 2LD then. It's logical to upgrade him... but we are waiting too much already and should wait some more probably

Season 14-15 will be the perfect storm. Maybe. (c) GMGM to TL

EDIT: There is only one player who is kind of stable (in a positive way). Alzner.

Green, Carlson, Orlov, Kundratek and the rest are far from the open book. Maybe GMGM waits for Green/Orlov situations to become clearer before committing to high dollar top4-LD which will require some assets to trade for?

Irrelevant. The point was that McPhee was happy to replace Semin's 20g for a lot less money than Semin was getting and Brouwer was his idea for that replacement.

Not to nitpick...but I think Mafki mentioned Chimera and his 20 goals when talking about replacing Semin's production. That hasn't quite worked out as expected...but at least Brouwer is scoring.

No, it was Brouwer. He said Brouwer had scored 20. (He had actually scored 18.)

Wait, so we've been giving McPhee TOO MUCH credit for that statement?

Maybe you're right....same difference really. I guess even more frustrating to those who recoil in horror every time big bad Troy dares say something close to controversial because he's more than backing it up on the ice so far this year.

He also said “not necessarily” on having to sign someone to replace Alexander Semin’s scoring.

“Troy Brouwer got 20 goals for us last year, which is one less than Semin,” McPhee said. “We’ll try our own guys.”
Of course, it's possible he meant to say Chimera, who actually did score 20.

What experience would that be? The experience of having Kane, Toews, Byfuglien, Sharp, Hossa, Ladd, Bolland, Keith, Seabrook and Campbell on his team? How do you think he'll apply that experience here, exactly?

Chicago dumped him the moment they could get decent value and their fans have not regretted it for a moment. Interesting that they didn't value his "experience" more.

Are you suggesting that Chicago doesn't miss the forward who was outscored by 4 of their defensemen?

Poor Brent Sopel with his 6 points in that playoff run or he would have made Brouwer the 6th best defenseman scorer, who plays forward.

I just completely despise the middle management mentality that "experience" always counts for something. It's like people believe you could put a scarecrow in a boardroom for 20 years then melt down the straw and rub it on entry level employees and that will make them super apt.

Could you please point me in the right direction? Seriously I do not see where this is covered and someone explained what Brouwer really meant.

Norv Turner says Hi, or maybe he just said "what we do works.".

Seriously, Last place is "all in all, doing well" to Brouwer?

Do you really think Brouwer was suggesting that the team's performance is fine? Surely my fellow Caps fans aren't that slow....basically he was saying 28 isn't missed as a teammate.

Well if he said something like "in the room" or something similar, but he said "all in all", in fact using the word "all" twice.

Maybe the locker room is an absolute love fest now that Semin is gone. Maybe everyone knows exactly what everyone is going to give every night now, so on that front we're doing so much better than when Semin was here. Of course, on the ice and in the standing's we're sucking a$$, not "doing well"...

But I get what you are completely reaching at.

The bigger problem with Brouwer is WTF does he think saying that stuff now, right before we play them, is going to accomplish? I suppose he had just read that long understood sports axiom that says "its always best to provide your opponent as much motivation as possible right before you play them".
