C'mon guys. Watch the games. Robidas would probably be the best Habs d-man right now. I love Markov better but he has slowed down -- only the PP and hockey sense makes him slightly better than Robidas. Subban will be better but isn't as polished as Robidas is right now. Diaz plays great, but we still don't know if he will sustain that caliber of hockey for the whole season. Then Robidas is clearly head and shoulders better than Emelin, Bouillon and Gorges. Dammit, he was an all star last year while Habs didn't get any player! He's Dallas #1 d-man for the last 3-4 years, playing 25-30 minutes a game!
Just to let you know, it's now 2013; not 2009. Also, Goligoski is their #1, and has been since they traded Neal and Niskanen for him in '11. Furthermore, Robidas only saw himself start to get those minutes with the loss of Zubov (and time missed by Goligoski), and the result has been a team that has allowed above league average in goals against each year since, with 4th/5th place division finishes, and no trips to the post season.
Robidas might deserve to be considered a short term improvement on one or two players (he is a good player - better than we thought during his time in Montreal), but he's overrated (imo) and at the end of his days, so I'd be careful with who (and how much) I sent the other way to acquire him.
I know its taboo on here to talk poorly of Markov but imo he's been the one D-man struggling the most as this season wears on. He's playing like a riverboat gambler out there but lacks the legs to make up for his mistakes.
In saying that the Robidas rumour as many have suggested still makes little to no sense at all for us.

Markov doesn't move.
Players who read the play as well as Markov don't go chasing the puck all over the ice/zone, they put themselves in position to make a play where the puck is going to be.

Adding depth by the top is the best outcome. We can safely dispose of our current #7 or #8 D if opportunity arise because we helped dry up the D market by taking out McDo and Girardi

Bouillon is clearly the 6th defencemen at this moment and Emelin is better than him.
It's subjective. I find Bouillon way better than Emelin until now this season. Emelin has been sometime atrocious around his net, taking bad decision after bad decision.
Maybe we can state that it was because he's not playing on his side. It doesn't help, certainly. But still Bouillon has been better than Emelin.
That said, I would keep Emelin instead of bouillon given age and I still think Emelin can improve a bit. But if the playoffs were starting tomorrow, I would prefer to see Bouillon in the lineup instead of Emelin.

Robidas is currently a better d-man than Goligoski who was actually a healthy scratch this season. The people who actually watch hockey and don't extrapolate their opinions primarily from statistics would laugh at the mention of Goligoski being currently better than Robidas.
IMO Goligoski is little more than a PP specialist whereas Robidas plays effectively in all situatioins.

Nothing personal against Robidas but....meh. I'm also on the "We need a tough stay at home and physical D with size" bandwagon and Robidas doesn't really fit that profile. We also already have a logjam at D with 2 of them in the pressbox on a full time basis. If it's for Kaberle i'm all in but other than that i would pass.
The man i want is John Eskrine but the Caps re-signed him today so i doubt that he's available.
Robidas doesn't make much sense unless there's another deal behind it, or if MB has a secret plan to bring back all the habs defense alumni in which case I guess François Beauchemin is next.
