I haven't seen that show but i'm hooked on Copper and i've been meaning to check out Ripper Street (about Jack the Ripper), heard good things about it and the previews look good. I also liked Outcast but it was cut after 10 episodes.

Ripper Street is fantastic. It's not about Jack the Ripper though.

Some good British comedy series:

The Inbetweeners
Friday Night Dinner
Fresh Meat
Bad Eduction

You should be able to find them online easily

you can't honestly recommend a British comedy show without posting Peep Show.

This.
(plus their sketch show, That Mitchell and Webb Look)

Check out Luther, it's very good if you enjoy poice shows. It stars Idris Elba from the Wire.

Skins was great, but got worse each time the cast changed. Misfits is kind of the same boat, as cast members drop from that show like flies. It's just no the same.

As for comedies, I love the Mighty Boosh and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. But that's a very specific type of humour that isnt for everyone.

As mentioned before, inbetweeners is hilarious. If you like that you'd enjoy Fresh Meat and Friday Night Dinners (both star former Inbetweeners).

Spaced is decent, stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. IT Crowd has it's moments.

QI is a amazing, and I don't really like panel shows.

I like the movie This is England. They followed it up with the mini series This is England '86, then '88, and soon to be '90. The first two series were great. The movie is on Netflix, the series can probably be found on youtube.

Luther, Hunted, Sherlock, Line of Duty, and Good Cop are very good.

Now, I find that British panel shows exceptional. Watch QI (Quite Interesting), Would I Lie to You (absolutely hilarious), and 8 Out of 10 Cats if you have time. You should find most of these panel shows on youtube.

It's an older show, but I love Yes, Minister! It's easily the most clever political show every made.

Other shows include Rumpole of the Bailey, Sherlock, Chef! and Poirot.

The only British show I still watch really are Doctor Who and Top Gear (more Top Gear than anything).

My roommate had me watching Misfits yesterday as well. Good show.

I've also seen Sherlock and Luther which are both pretty great. Maybe Sherlock kind of jumped it in season 2.

I like the "panel of comedians" shows that seem to be popular overseas. Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats, etc.
