I'd say Testwuide is more likely to be an NHL player than Wahl, but neither is likely to amount to much.

This is definitely a sign that the entire Calgary roster is about to be traded.

yeah any time a team trades away a failing prospect who cant hold a spot on an ahl roster it means the rebuild begins!

Mitch Wahl has been playing in Utah most of the season and was only recently brought up to Abb. He has the talent, just hasnt taken a step forward really.

Remember when Mitch Wahl was once considered a highly regarded prospect? Those were good times.

He was well on his way to becoming a solid pro before being cheap shotted by Volpatti and subsuquently missing an entire year with concussion issues.

Unfortunately he has not been the same player since.

Mitch Wahl nearly made the Flames in his first training camp after turning pro. Was a late cut.

He also put up point per game numbers in the AHL (10 or so games) until he was creamed by Volpatti, was concussed, and missed the rest of the season.

He was never the same after that.

EDIT - Beaten

Good minor trade by Feaster... Wahl can't even crack the Heat... At least Testwuide can suit up/help the Farm.

He almost made the team coming straight out of juniour. Too bad he got injured, looked to have decent NHL potential.

has there been a single trade this season that didn't involve minor-league players?

Was a clean hit. Wahl even admitted that and said he got 'caught with his head down'. But way to create your own headline, son.

There is a difference between finishing a check, and trying to hurt someone. Sure, Wahl put himself in a dangerous position on the ice, but the initial point of contact was to the head, and it was in devastating fashion. It was a needlessly over the top hit that in hindsight has ruined the young kid's career. I don't advocate for that type of play even if by definition it did not break any rules. You may not agree with that, but I stand by what I said.

Although it may not be the greatest quality highlight, the hit didn't appear at all to be malicious or didn't seem like the head was targeted. Wahl put himself in a vulnerable position by skating to the middle of the ice, admiring his pass and got caught in the trolley tracks.

He only has himself to blame for putting himself in that situation.

^^ Yeah how can anyone call that malicious?? It was a shoulder to shoulder to check, he could have killed that kid if he actually wanted to.

At least the player can admit it was his fault, bizarre that the fans can't seem to.

We could debate this all day. What I see is Volpatti exploding up just before contact and driving his shoulder into Wahl's head. I agree that Wahl put himself into a very vulnerable position, but as I said I don't advocate for players taking advantage of those situations in such devastating fashions.

I also understand that many people out there like to see those plays, but I am not one of those fans.

Hockey is a physical sport. Hits and collisions happen. It's part of the game. What you described is a great exaggeration and biased account of what actually happened.
