What Marc Bergevin is waiting for?

Today, it will be the 12 consecutive games that both Y.Weber and T.Kaberle are scratch from the lineup. What do you think Marc Bergevin is planning for both of these guys?

A. Wants to keep them both, to have a good depth for the playoff run.
B. Waits for the trade deadline to make is move.
C. Wants to keep Weber but unnable to trade Kaberle.
D. Wants to keep Kaberle, but the offers for Y.Weber are not good enough.
E. He has something else in mind and he wants to keep those assets to make a bigger move later.
F. Other option...

Trades Kaberle, with 1st rounder to NYI for RIck DiPietro and NYI's 1st rounder, then buys out Dipietro

He wants to increase Kaberle's trade value by not allowing other GMs to see him play.

There's simply no rush for us to make a move right now, Nokelainen is still recovering from his injury so we don't have to move anyone. Just look at how bad Ottawa's defense is looking right now, you can never know when and how hard injuries will hit you so the more depth you have (and the longer you keep that depth) the better it is. If we're still relatively healthy come deadline time, now I can see those players being dealt if the demand is there but for now there's no need to get rid of that security we have right now for potential replacements.

Molson isn't going to take a 24 million dollar bath so we can maybe get Mackinnon

Kaberle doesn't have much of a say. He has a price tag that other teams may not be interested in, so even if he demands a trade, I doubt teams are lining up to get him.

Weber though is a young prospect with interesting attributes. Not the best prospect but still, he has enough to attract teams. Keeping him in the press box is bad for his value, but also for his development. I always believed he could be a good bottom pairing/PP specialist type, with maybe top 4 ceiling. I feel bad for the kid, he should be playing. We should do him a favor and move him.

What is he waiting for? A GM to start smoking crack! That's the only way he unloads Kaberle.

Weber, on the other hand is depth, plain and simple.

Habs 1st is worth a lot less than the Islander's 1st. I don't think an 8 year old playing NHL 13 would even do that trade.

I don't see how the Islanders could sell that to their fans. They're essentially selling their pick for 20 million. That would be amazing to see though. Would be deplored by every NHL team.

He probably wants more for them and he's waiting for the market to heat up, or he thinks just because we're healthy now doesn't mean we will be a week from here.

Toss in Weber and our 3 2nd rounders this season for the Isles' 2014 1st to pick up both MacKinnon and McDavid?

EDIT: I'm not crazy, McDavid's eligible in 2014, oui?

Option G: There aren't any takers for either of them.

Kaberle most likely has negative value at this point and the return for Weber is likely so small that trading him simply isn't worth it. Better to have a body on the roster capable of filling in on D in case of injuries than a 7th in 2037.

You don't get it.

Islanders are a financially struggling franchise. They probably can't afford, money-wise, to buy out DiPietro. We'd take that burden off their shoulder and buy out DiPietro ourselves in exchange of their 1st.
