just read this on the code's blog....

take it for what it's worth and I highly doubt it's worth much. but nevertheless, FYI:

The Habs have offered to send Souray to the Red Wings for Robert Lang. The Habs would like a prospect to be included. The name that has been mentioned is Hulder. The Kings have also expressed interested in Souray, and so have the Sharks."

note: by no means do i believe this at all. i just wanted to post this after i read it seeing that it hadn't been posted here yet.

If you mean Hudler, isn't Detroit really high on him? And what place does a 5'9" forward prospect have within the organization, we have no space for the prospects we already have.

Doesn't make sense, we would need a d man back in order to move Souray, or we would have to dump salary to sign a dman.

Perhaps, BG has a deal in place with D. Markov he just doesn't want to announce it until a trade of sourray is made, that way he isn't shortchanged, this all pending D.Markov not having already been signed by someone else. Too many brain cells were fried this weekend, I don't remember him being signed please correct if i'm wrong.

sorry if this is posted here already.
don't worry...he didn't saw the Samsonov signing coming...neither the Johnson trade...and he also bet his house that Brad Richards would have been a Hab this summer....

Unlike Eklund, Code I like. He makes it clearly he isn't reporting things that will happen (meaning predicting or breaking news) but just letting us know about the chatter thats going on ....

Gainey would only acquire Lang for Souray if he knew he could get something for Aebischer + Ribiero in terms of D-Men.

Interesting Idea, but we would need to dump salary somewhere to make it happen too.

How much does Lang make?? I think it is more than Souray.

We already are down to approx 2 million left in cap space (which gainey wants to use for inseason moves) after we sign Ryder.

Souray makes $2.4mill, Lang $3.8 ...

If we get Lang, we would drop Ribiero and Aebischer to get a D-men .. which means we Dump $3.8 mill and would have about $2mill to get a D-Man to replace Souray...

Something like that anyways.

Any move that puts us in a weaker position on defense makes any potential move to acquire a defenseman more difficult, because potential trade partners can strongarm us, since we're desperate. In the league right now, with the shortage of defenseman that there is, it would be stupid to trade one away and put ourselves in a position where we have to give up more than we want to.

It doesn't make sense anyway, because we need defensemen, and if we traded Souray away, we'd need 2. Hudler is interesting, but acquiring him would almost certainly mean trading away one or more prospects for a mediocre defenseman. No thanks.

Don't forget that you would have to take on Danis salary if you dump Aebischer. So the savings is closer to 1.2 rather than 1.9.

Ludicrous, pure code-ine. It would weaken the defense, load the payroll, and make Carbonneau look like a dork for saying at his press conference that he would play Samsonov on a line with Ribeiro and Kovalev. Not only that, but the Habs don't need Hudler.

I doubt this trade happens but I would not be surprised at all if Land was traded before the season. The Wings really wanna move him because of his contract in order for them to sign Zetterberg and Datsyuk. In Bob we trust

Bob should pull a coup...Hypnotize Holland into sending up Kronwall and Lang for Souray + Aebischer!

I believe Detroit will want to move Lang to open a spot for Hudler.

Yeah I'm sure Gainey was the one who showed interest in Lang. I swear these so-called "sources" always get it wrong. Detroit made the offer, not Gainey. Why would Gainey make this offer? It makes no sense from his standpoint.

Oh, and we don't want Lang in Montreal. He just doesn't try out there, we don't want more players like that, we want to get rid of them.

On the subject of Souray though, if he were to leave Montreal, would you guys want an offensive or defensive defensman to take his place? Just wondering because Gainey could see what people would offer for Souray and if he couldn't get any defensman in return, Zidlicky is still available.

I thought he was too but my brother said he wasn't and he's listed as a UFA on SNET's list (which is pretty unreliable)....

nvm that last part if he has been signed.
