It's obvious our d-men can't get quality shots to the net and theirs and most of the league's d-men can. No scoring threat from the blueline + No Kari for a while = No Playoffs.
Got all the mileage you are going to get out of my earlier comment?
Irony is that the last goal was all about Jagr not making any effort to get back into the play, yet he escaped taking the hit on his plus minus.
No, because if you continue to bring up +/- as a relevant statistic as to how a player is performing throughout the duration of a single game of hockey and his play of late, I will continue to laugh at you.
Well we can't beat Calgary or Columbus, why should Nashville produce a different outcome?
This team frustrates the hell out of me. I wish I knew what GM Joe is waiting for....defense in shambles for well over a year but nothing gets done. ...

The defensive pieces he drafted are not going to be a scoring threat anytime in the near future. However, the ones he passed on..... Oh well, let's just leave it at that.
The problem we're experiencing now is that we have several promising young D but only 1 veteran D stable enough to pair them with. Not everyone can play with Daley. So there will be growing pains. Hopefully not of the permanent variety.
I wouldn't really say the D was the problem tonight. Lots of missed opportunities and subpar goaltending. Besides moving Robidas (who's been OK the past 5 games or so) any extra move would have kicked a kid out of the lineup.
What do we expect when our defense is as poor as it is and we have our back up in net.
in the 4 years hes been at the helm Joe's refusal to improve the defense is digusting.
Yep. Been forever since #56 laced em up, but he has yet to be replaced. With no change in sight, its tough to be optimistic about the way GM Joe is handling this.
Whoops, did I say handling? My bad, I meant mishandling. The opposite of handling.

I hate to make more excuses for Nieuwy because I already think he gets too much of a free pass, but he did inherit a team with essentially zero defensive depth in the farm system. Ivan Vishnevskiy was the only d prospect of any substance in the system, and he had already shown he did not have the drive to be an NHL player, even if his skill was obviously there.
Of course, Nieuwy did himself no favors by using his first two first rounders on a center and a goalie even when there were no high level d prospects ready.

I still think Robidas and Dillon have been a very solid pair
