MDZ would be the new whipping boy in Philly inside of a week.

So what you're saying is they've reverted back to the Rangers in the early 2000's?

Of course if the return were right I'd move him anywhere, it's just not ideal that it's to a division rival. However if Pittsburgh offered up Crosby for Couturier... you'd need to be a real dummy not to take it.

Yeah if the return was good it'd be hard to pass up. The only bad part would be Couturier going up against Giroux's line for X amount of years.

The problem with coots i seeing is the same problem pitt had with staal.

he is just too good to be a 3rd line center. And we need a pmd for the future.

For a return like Sutter, Dumoulin, and an 8th overall, I don't mind that problem

CBJ calls up Cody Goloubef. I wanted to pry him away from the Jackets. Actually, him and John Moore. They'd be nice to have.

Blackhawks extend their streak. It looks like Carcillo might get his name on the cup this year!

I loved hearing Gretzky talk about loving the Flyers growing up and perpetuating the story of how The Great One established his "Office" by watching Bobby Clarke do it.

Why do you suppose Gretzky was there? If there is any other reason besides taking in a Flyers game in Philadelphia and keeping in touch with old friends and opponents on the ice

TSN said it was a corporate appearance for TD Bank.

I watched a few old Oilers games when work was slow a while back. Gretzky was unreal. When he was set up behind the net you could almost hear the defensemen thinking "ohhhhh ****."

Hang back too long? He'd pass it through the defender eventually, or go the other way for a wraparound. Try to flush him out? Congrats, you've probably left him an open pass.

Gretzky was so good he knew what you were going to do before you did.

Could you imagine Pierre McGuire in between the benches on commentary during Gretzky's games?

There is also rumors going around that he might be the next President of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Maybe he was just catching a game of the team he will soon run?

I read an article posted in the History section, where the author talked to a defensman (who I can't recall) about defending Gretzky. He told a story about Gretzky setting up in his office; he tried to block the pass, and set his skate against the post. Gretzky passed it through the skate to set up a goal. After the game the defenseman sat down with his skate, and slotted a puck through. It barely fit. He said this was a routine occurrence, and Gretzky ended up using the same trick on him a few times; if you gave him the tiniest hole to work with, you were getting beaten more often than not.

Yeah Gretzky is the only player I can think of that would deliberately shoot pucks off stakes depending on how they were angled and routinely score some pretty sick goals that way.

Also, I lol'd at the Pierre McGuire comment.

I'd be down with Gretzky taking over as coach if Lavy gets canned. Don't see it happening though.

Great players don't necessarily make great coaches. Gretz was a mess in Phoenix behind the bench.

This. He nearly ruined every high draft pick they had during his time there. The guy had no patience when it came to young players.

"What should I do coach?"

"Go where the puck is going to be."

"...thanks, coach."
