The hatred just keeps on growing between both teams

If they meet in the playoffs anything could happen

That doesn´t make sense. They lost their best player and they should suck.

The players have said that they talked about the level of effort they needed after they lost their biggest star and the guy they relied on (too much) to get the job done.

Also gave up on the season after the two straight Blues-games, but right now it feels like only the sky seems to be the limit the way they have been playing. Hopefully they will keep this same hunger for as long as possible.

Have to enjoy moments like these as a fan of a team.

Didn't Helsingin Sanomat do the same after the Ben Amor-Peltonen incident, and no longer wanted to continue the sponsorship deal with Jokerit?

EDIT: http://www.hs.fi/urheilu/Helsingin+S...a1305598484843

Ouch. Two major sponsors being vocal about not wanting to support the league due to "violence" might lead to some of the smaller market teams having troubles with getting finance in the future. Let's just hope the others remain reasonable and don't follow suit.

In addition to those hits we had Summanen screaming obscenities at Jokerit's coach. Unfortunately for Summanen, all of that was caught on the TV and you can actually see him doing it.

He's going to be suspended, as are Pikkarainen and Nordlund. They would've given all of the decisions today at the same time with Järventie's verdict if there were no suspensions coming.

Finnish media and SM-liiga will again crap the pants.

Pikkarainen should get the biggest suspension, then Saarenheimo for using the stick as an axe. Nordlund's and Järventie's hits were clean. If SM-liiga gives Nordlund big suspension (and they will) then I have lost all the little faith I have for the league.

SM-liiga, if you want to clean the game: GET SAFETY RINKS TO EVERY GOD DAM LEAGUE ARENA AND ALLOW FIGHTS.

Hockey is these days just too big for this country. Media lives with the scandals/"violence" and people outside the sport have strong opinions about the game even though they don't follow the sport at all...just read the BS on papers

Interesting to see what Liusjärvi's argumentation is, if Nordlund is given a suspension for that hit.

Well, considering that I thought his interpretation of the Järventie/Moses hit was interesting to say the least (although the hit was clean nonetheless), I don't have high expectations for the justification of Nordlund's impending suspension.

Just saying that we see plenty of hits like that in hockey. Nordlund didn't leave his feet and kept his hands down. It didn't look like charging and IMO it wasn't checking to the head/neck area either. Peltonen got himself in a slightly vulnerable position, and this time paid the price for it. Nordlund played hard, but still within the rules of the game. Or at least that's my view of things.

Totally agree and if that hit would've happend in Hartwall Areena where is only safety rink in the league, we wouldn't be talking about this. The game is fast and physical these days and the players still have to play the game inside rock hard rinks like in HIFK's arena.

I didn't think it was a dirty hit, either, but you can't really tell for sure based on the video. The league feels that they need to suspend Nordlund, because Peltonen's once again unable to play due to being concussed by a member of the same team (this time unintentionally) and the media circus around this issue is incredible. If they felt confident, they would've just given the verdict already: 0 games. But since they've now postponed it until tomorrow to "view additional video material on the incident", you can expect them to either a) give him 7+ games or b) let him off the hook entirely, hoping that the noise will die down after tonight's games. Personally, I think they're looking for something they could use to justify a long suspension.

This is a charade, but what else can you expect from this league anymore? They actually shortened Abid's suspension for intentionally smacking Armia in the chin with his stick and concussing him just because JYP complained about the verdict. Now they're saying all hits to the head will result in longer suspensions, but in the light of Armia-Abid and other extremely ugly incidents this season, things like Summanen's 5-game suspension for verbal insults seem ridiculous.

All in all, this season has been one big charade, right from the September 1st craziness all the way to some woman reporting about Artturi Lehkonen's concussion to the child protective services.

It was a clean hit but I think it's almost certain that he will be suspended. It must feel nice to lose 10% or more (6 games or more) of your yearly salary just because a certain idiot is uncapable of running his league properly and wants to "send a message".

Both were likely to drop out anyway due to economic reasons, this just gave them an excuse.

According to Esko Seppänen all parties have been informed that there won't be a suspension a for Nordlund.

I guess that's the case after Liusjärvi's decision as it was clean hit but the verdict has now been moved to SM-liiga board of directors and now anything could happen tomorrow. The league could really shut up the media nonsense for once and stay with the 0 game verdict. Let's see are they ballsy enough. My hopes aren't high...

It was a clean hit, if Peltonen had concussion blame rink that is not safe.

Fun fact: If Ässät win tonight's game against HIFK in regulation, they'll have more regulation wins in the last 12 games than Ilves in the whole season.

The logic in suspensions and discipline is pretty hopeless.

Pikkarainen gets 7 games and no injurry to Huml.
Ruutu gets 4 games and Lehkonen has a concussion.
