What players of African decent would you say are the best of all-time?
Who's the best of the best?
in about 15-20 years or so Josh Ho-Sang a rookie Windsor Spitfires will be mentioned, He has insane hands and vision and might end up being the most skilled African-American in the NHL, he might not get the most points but in windsor people compare him to Taylor Hall but he is not as good as Hallsy obviously but this kid brings you to the edge of your seat ond he skates like the wind. Here is his Stats and a few Videos:
I wrote that in the previous post, no need to repeat. Laraque was the best player in his role during good bunch of seasons..that means something. Definitely should be TOP 5 player.
And again, you would be completely clueless to put BGL in the top 15. I gave you a list of players that were/are much better than BGL. Now, go back look at that list and tell me how he is better than any one of those players.
Me thinks, you started watching hockey a few years ago, if you think BGL ranks anywhere near the top 10.
Go look at the list and justify what you say. As someone already said, I would rather be the 30th ranked QB than the number 1 rated kicker in the NFL. How in the world can you put someone that averaged 5 minutes per game top 5 is beyond thinkable. And at one point in this thread you had him above Dirk Graham. Do research and understand the players before the last decade before making ridiculous statements.
You're aware that the SCOTUS is not the world court and other countries have different laws?
Yes, that's why I posted the South African citizenship laws underneath (same as the US) which proved my point about Kolzig. He had a choice on citizenship.
I used the SCOTUS for one example not a blanket statement for the entire world.

Actually, next year it will be 20 years I've watched the game of hockey.

I'm much more into so called soccer, than football, I don't understand your example because I have no idea what is the role of QB and kicker in american football.

It's my opinion and I've used same logic which brought Gainey in the HOF. He was the best in his role, nowhere near the best or the most talented in NHL. Was he better than Makarov? No. But why he is in and Makarov not? Impact and level of excellence in their roles. Afro-American players are quite a small group of players so such level of role play as Laraque had played stood up more. Not to say his impact off the ice. Someone mentioned O'Ree and his impact and made a case for him being high on the list. Same apply for Laraque, IMO. You doesnt have to agree. C'est la vie.

But yet you still fail to make an argument against those players I listed. All youcan say is he was a good fighter. A guy that wrestled most of his opponents to the ice and never beat Jody Shelley to you is a great fighter......
I think HOW black they are should also be considered here, grant fuhr was great but he was half black and adopted by a white family. My pick is Anson Carter

Laraque was definitely considered the best fighter out there during bunch of seasons. In scenery where NHL played about 70 Afro-American player historicaly is a huge achievment to be considered the best in any role, no matter if it's fighting, faceoff or hitting.
You either don't want to see my argument on purpose or I can't understand what kind of statement should I write. I've wrote three times why I've put Laraque high on the list and IIRC on the first page lists, I was not alone.
And seriously, please..keep your advices and shakeheads for your friends in pub or relatives at family dinner meeting or whatever. I'm not interested in them. When I would feel I have to do some research on any topic, I will do it.

Reason: grammar
When it comes top BGL i think it's just a matter of what kind of top-list one is out to do. In the most usual one where it's offense, offense, offense that matters he might not fit, but if you're looking for a more TEAM oriented one where say a guy like Bob Gainey has a natural spot becouse he was the BEST at stopping the oppositions top players, for a forward anyway, BGL might find a spot especially when considering the lack of depth on an all-afro top-10.
