I went all in on the Oilers earlier today. They've always got the Hawks number for some reason.

you know, that Telus commercial between periods is pretty hilarious:

I was just coming in here to say that despite the Hawks setting a record and rolling through the NHL season, the most compelling story so far is the Ottawa Senators. 5 game winning streak minus their best forward, Norris winning D and awesome goaltender, amongst others.

That team is straight up legit. If people thought they were a cinderella team last year, they can just put that to rest now.

Paul MacLean needs to take home some hardware this year, if they make the playoffs.

Everybody seemingly wants to give it to Carlyle despite the fact that this Leaf team is no better than last year's outside of the crease.

Ray Emery at 8-0-0 and Crawford at 8-0-3. That's nuts.

And Edmonton was dominated most of the game. Pretty lucky to come away with the point.

Yeah.

That is crazy and neither guy is actually that good.

It will be funny to see them crash and listen to the "peaked too early" chatter.

Oh the peaked too early narrative...

2012 LA kings say hello

We stats guys were raving all year about how LAK were a lot stronger than their record was (we also called MIN and TOR drops but lots of people did). So, I wouldn't say that was intentionally peaking in the right time but finally getting **** together (and ducks in a row) at the right time.

very fair point but how dominant LA actually were over that playoff stretch made it seem like the pendulum had swung away past where they should have been (normalized to their stats) out to the other end of the spectrum. I haven’t seen a team cruise through the playoffs to a cup win that convincingly since the dynasty Oilers on their best year but more realistically the Habs of the 70's on their best year when they rarely gave up a game.

Yet the Oiler fans are very in love with Petry? He does seem to get compared to Postma by some people although Petry seems a bit more physical and defensively sound and Postma seems to have more offensive skills….but tall smooth skating players so maybe that is why I have seen them compared a bit.

Never mind that, some Oiler fans wanted us to think that Petry isn't that far off from Bogosian.

Conditional 4th round pick in 2013.

Gagne wasn't fitting in with LA, but hey, I wouldn't have minded Chevy doing a deal like this. Gagne is extremely injury prone though, which is pretty worrisome.

I think Philly stands a good chance at turning their season around. I really like their forwards, defence could maybe use some work, and of course Bryzgalov has to be good. In my own opinion I think a lot of their problems may stem from coaching. I had Laviolette as a coach pre-Jets days in Carolina, and he has a shelf life. His defensive system is also brutal. I'm not surprised at all to see a Laviolette team doing so piss poor defensively, goals against, etc.

Honestly, a guy like Lindy Ruff may do wonders for a team like Philly.

Really like their forwards though.

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Briere-Schenn-Simmonds
Gagne-Couturier-Talbot
McGinn-Fedotenko-Rinaldo

Read (Injured - Had 7 goals and 13 pts in 18 games).

The kings have moved Simon Gagne (conditional 4th) and Andrei Loktionov (5th). Wild. The simple fact that they can give away that kind of talent requires some crazy impressive depth.

I wonder if Chevy had any talks with the Kings. I would have been happy with either player at that kind of price. The Devils think they have something really nice in Loktionov and Gagne (with an extension) could be useful depth player for a number of years.

I am not saying either guy is a huge difference maker of would push this team over the top, but the Jets need a more depth.
