Which Euro falls this year?

It seems that there is always some Euro player who falls in the draft. Forsberg and Grigs last year Alexi Charaponov (RIP) did in his draft year and others to say the least. My question is who do you have falling? Currently I feel like VALERI NICHUSHKIN will fall due to lack of exposure I.E not playing in NA and will cause him to fall slightly.

Nichushkin, according to those NHL.com mock drafts went around 15th overall which surprised me because I thought he would be a top ten pick. From what I saw at the world's he's fast and strong which I like. Only question is when does he come over?

Ristolainen, but I still like the kid.

I remember two years ago thinking that he might end up as a top 5 pick. Now I think he goes somewhere in the 20-30 range.

I could see Nichushkin falling out of the top 10. If he did I would hope Toronto makes a move upwards to get him because he has the skill set to be a top 6 PWF but even if his scoring touch did not come over he still has the physical tools to be a solid 3rd line grinder.

Yeah it always seems to be the Euro's who fall. Not sure on any other finns in this draft but I feel Barkov is going in the top 5 for sure.

Lehkonen because of concussion. Someone is going to get very nice player on the 2nd round.

Nichushkin. There are things not to love about his game, and he has a contract in Russia for another 2 years. I don't see him going top 10.

News Flash ; prospects from every nation "fall" in their draft year.

Barkov isn't falling. Nor is Lindholm.

Nichushkin is the obvious one here. Lekhonen might fall deeper into the second round than expected, but not really a suprising fall. Interested to see where Zadorov/Hagg/Ristolainen are drafted.

Even if the concussion isn't bad, the fact that he might miss the U-18 WJC due to club commitments, might "hurt" him more.

Yes, Lehkonen is good pick if he's projected to go around 20.

Risto would be another pick as he's been aroudn 6-8 on many lists.. Except Button and that one NHL mock.

Except when a North American falls it's for good reason. I'd still like to know why Forsberg fell out of the top 10? This guy was top 5 all year long and I never heard a single knock against him.

i cant see nichushkin taken before the end of the first. he has a real alternative in the khl.

With Nichushkin having signed a KHL contract he's the obvious one.

I see Ristolainen pretty late on some lists, but I think he's too good to fall out of the top 15.

The difference isn't that there is a reason for NA players, it's that they get exposure so we can see what the reasons are. EU players don't stay under the same microscope here so if they fall off defensively, or are having team issues, etc, we don't hear about it or know about it to the same extent as NA players.

Nichuskin could be this years Tarasenko.

Talented enough to be a ~top 5 pick, arguably top 3-4. But will likely go in the ~10-15 range.

Thread title should be "Which Russian", not "Euro", since it always seems to be the "Russian Factor" that causes players to fall.

What's the big deal with the KHL contract? Isn't it only for two years. Most NA's will spend two years in the CHL before they go pro. He's at least playing against men.

Nishuchkin will only drop to the Tampa pick, Yzerman always drafts the russians the others don't want and is really successful at it. I would be thrilled if he drafts him doesn't care at which position and Tampa has enough offensive talent, so they can wait 2, 3 or even 4 years to get him over.

If he is 50/50 about which way he wants to go, and plays well in the KHL and gets big money in his homeland that will sway him to stay in KHL.

Forsberg fell for a reason. Teams preferred other players. Forsberg may have been in the Top 5 of every team for all we know, but circumstance meant he fell to Washington.

It may come as a shock, but prospects of all nationalities fall. You want examples? Couturier fell. Tarasenko fell. Saad fell. Tervainanen fell. I could go on.

Bang on. This guy's logic is: North American falls, he's not that good. Euro falls, the teams messed up.

Nichushukin is the popular answer and for good reason:

#1 - Russian factor
#2 - Needs alot more muscle
#3 - Inconsistent physicality

But his upside is also very high because when he does turn it on, he is a game-breaker. So it will take a team that is comfortable with Russians AND a team that doesn't have another better player on their lists.
