Cammalleri to NSH

what would you guys give up to get Mike Cammalleri from the Flames. Or would you?

I think he's something we should look into instead of throwing Weiss's name around there all day.

Cammy's stats look like this;
13GP
4G, 7A, 11PTS
-3 , 2PPG, and avergaing 17:18 TOI

Flames fans have offered proposals from;

Cammalleri + Stempniak
for
Blum + Budish + 2nd round (pretty sure we traded our second rounder)

and then got another proposal

Cammalleri
for
Blum + '13 1st rounder

Admittedly haven't seen him play much, but his stats lately look mediocre at best. And he's 5'9", so it's not like he provides grit or size or anything. He'd be ok to add if they eat salary, but I wouldn't do Blum+1st, no way. 1st deal is a little bit better.

Trotz would eat him alive, he's a center that is awful defensively and in the faceoff circle.

Not trading a 1st for Cammalleri.

Cammalleri is really talented, but also really fragile. I definitely wouldn't give up a first rounder for him.

The thing with Cammalleri is that he's only good in Calgary. Look what happened when he went to Montreal.. He wasn't the game breaker that the Habs hoped for in terms of scoring goals on a consistent basis. He did nothing to help them out, and if anything, didn't provide what the Habs wanted him to... When he's in Calgary, he's much better offensively.. Yes he's a proven goal scorer but his best playing days are in Calgary and not anywhere else..

not gonna argue that. I just feel like its a better look than weiss. he scored tonight vs. PHO, something our guys seem like they cannot do...but seriously.

IDK, he could be a #1C here and we can only wonder how he would play. Like you said he didn't produce like MON wanted him too, so who knows.

Just thought I'd throw another name out there, and I like the guy, he's gotta a real nice shot and good offensive skills IMO.

But agreed, with the draft this year a 1st rounder is a no-no. Still could package others.

if we were going to make a move for him, I would think all that would be offered is a 3rd-4th rounder and maybe a guy we don't think will make it, but could be a useful AHL hand

He's the kind of guy I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on in free agency, but not someone I'd give up significant assets for.

If a better deal were to come along this summer we'd be kicking ourselves for giving up our best trading chip and eating up all that salary. I know you can't keep waiting for the perfect deal, but you have to draw the line somewhere.

I see what you guys are saying. He'd be a nice pick up but I understand what all of you are thinking when we're putting top prospects on the line.

Even though we scored 5 tonight, I still think we need an offensive part. I'm sure we'll see something eventually. Might not be till the off-season though like many of you have said.

no thanks. maybe if it was in free agency. not giving up any assets for a guy like cammalleri. we have done enough of that recently. we need a significant upgrade at the center position. someone who can really ramp up our puck possession (joe thornton for example, not available though)

Cammalleri is a natural winger, and is significantly less useful as a center. As underwhelming as they have been thus far, Legwand and Fisher are still far more valuable as centers than Cammalleri would be.

Great release, great shot, subpar on the defensive side, undersized.

Would be a useful winger for us, and good trigger man on the power play, but not worth the assets being proposed, and an awful contract.

He hasn't really done anything since that mega Montreal playoff run.

Preds haven't picked in Round 1 the last 2 drafts. No way they let that one go this season, for anyone.

This draft is supposed to be one of the deepest in a long time. Even a low pick should get a quality prospect.

That's what they always say...
