The Oilers GDT is pretty funny. The sky is falling over there and apparently according to a few people, the Hawks play 'boring neutral zone trap hockey'. Boring? Even when they play like crap it's not boring

It was pretty boring when at one time we made 2 line changes and held it in their zone during that stretch in the 2nd period. It is called puck control.

Yes, but he was always the most vocal proponent of ending ties, which he did in 2005. It may have taken him 10 years to do it, but it was his initiative.

Daniel Sedins goal against Van which gave them1-0 lead.

By my estimation, they only need to win 15 of those to lock up the #1 seed, maybe would end up #2 if the Ducks continues their torrid pace.

I have a question, fantasy-related. Now that Crawford is back and looking good, I assume he'll be getting the majority of starts right? Minus the occasional back-to-backs.

yes, you can expect Craw to get more starts than Emery

Just wondering if he'd maybe get more starts then a typical backup now, given he's been pretty good and winning a ton, though I imagine they realize it's mostly due to the Chicago team.

Crawford is the starter and they need to know if they can trust him in the POs

I'd expect Crawford to start almost all games that are not back-to-back.

I'm actually at a loss for words as to figure out how the Hawks play trap hockey.

I guess its tough to follow our transition game when the puck ends up in the opposition's zone so quickly?

This is what I am expecting as well. Especially since Q is probably comfortable with Emery and his performance. I thought Emery's positioning looked much better last night too. More square to most shooters. Q might opt to give him a little more work just to keep him sharp.

They're just not used to teams playing defense.

I did see a good deal of 1-2-2 from the Hawks which was a bit odd since it was tied 2-2 at the time.

My only complaint is the 2 off days before the next game. I want my hockey!

I think this is a great point. People forget Rosy was a second pair guy on a team that won their division last year. He's solid defensively, and has lot of poise with the puck, which really helps the Hawks transition game.

The Hawks have the HUGE benefit now of having their #3-6 d-men all playing like legitimate 2nd pair guys. That keeps them all fresh, and DK and BS don't have to play 27+ minutes for the Hawks to have a chance to win.

I saw it a bit later in the third, but I think it was because they were tired and there wasn't a commercial break from like 13:54 until 2:35 or something ridiculous like that.

This defense is absolutely loaded. Brookbank and Montador is a damn solid third pairing on most teams.

I'm not sure people understand what the neutral zone trap actually is. It seems like if their team can't break into the offensive zone with ease then everybody starts throwing around the T word.

Montador was a healthy scratch with Buffalo and should have never been signed. But I'll agree that Brookbank is a solid 3rd pairing guy in most places.

Montador was also good top 4 defenseman with Buffalo for a while.

Concussions have really messed with his career.

The Hawks do play trap hockey. The offensive zone trap.

I thought I noticed the same thing. I looked at the TOI and Keith played the more in the 3rd than the 1st or 2nd. I was a little surprised, I think all is well.

On that thought, I just looked at toi/g and I really liked what I saw.

Keith is still among the leaders, but this time he's leading on page 2.

What I liked best about the game is after the Oilers scored that first goal off of Keith's blowout, you could just tell Kane was like "aww hell nah, ain't happenin' again" and pretty much willed that first goal to fruition.
