Torres is an extreme example, as is Matt Cooke. But people can't say they want sand paper in the line up and then complain when guys give them just that. Remember when Buff boarded Edler and knocked him out of the playoffs in 09-10? Again, you want your guys making iffy hits.

Also, I meant to say 40 second mark of the suspension video, not 40 minute mark

This is one of them rare moments where an opposing player gets a suspension and most of us don't really care. Shaw kind of deserved it, and he knows that I'm sure. No big deal.

Yeah I see what you're saying. A guy who hits a little late is different than a guy who target's the head and hits a little late.

We're so used to not having edgy players in the lineup that, instead of being uber-homers, we just all agree Shaw deserved a beat down.
There's at least 5 or 6 teams in the league that would be filled with posters complaining about Clowe deserving a bigger suspension. I couldn't care less as Shaw made a useless play considering the time remaining in the game.

I'm not a big fan of "playing on the edge" when it leads to injuries and dirty plays. But, you can certainly see how it distracts the other bench from focusing on the game. I still wish we had a big guy who could be a dominant net presence.

it's more than that...we've had our own players injured by dangerous and iffy hits...if someone hit one of our players like shaw did i wouldn't be happy

Hossa got hit harder from behind last night. The hit isn't as devastating as people are making it out to be. Pavelski didn't even go all the way down to the ice.

The result of the hit isn't what's important, it's the legality of the hit. It was dirty.

Your argument about Pavelski not going down to the ice is irrelevant. Every player receives a hit differently. Lets say Raffi Torres didn't hit Hossa in the playoffs but instead hit Bickell or something, but Bickell got back up and kept skating. Should Torres have been given a free ride in that case?

It was a freaking minor penalty.

It was an example, I'm not comparing the 2 at all.
