I've been the first to bash Hainsey in the past.

Last year, I've seen him firsthand, take the puck off the opening faceoff of a period wait about 5 or 6 seconds for a play to develop, and then simply fire it down the ice for an icing without pressure.

So ya, he makes bone headed plays, but he also has played pretty solid in his own zone, and the tandem of hainsey and bogo seem to work well together and is currently our best pairing by far, imo. Maybe my expectations have changed since last year, but I've been pretty surprised he's been as effective as he has.

He's not in the running for the Norris, by any stretch, but imo he's been solid and needs to take the minutes Clitsome, Stuart and Postma can't take.

Ryan Whitney has been getting the press box treatment in Edmonton. Eventually he's gonna demand trade (if he hasn't already). Oilers are in need of some size and grit. I wonder if they'd be intterested in Thorburn for him. I believe Whitney gets $4 million a year and has been injury riddled for a couple seasons, so they might do it straight up.

Moving Thorburn moves Peluso back to the 4th line opening a spot for Wellwood on the 3rd.

Without any numbers to back it up, I would bet Ron clears more rebounds than any other Jet. He is usually in position. Not sure why he has been struggling with his breakouts this year.

No to Whitney, please, no. He can't crack a weak Edmonton D. We don't need a castoff like that. Even Campoli is preferable to Whitney FFS.

Near anyone but Whitney.

I miss Arty Kulda.

My problem with Hainsey is his big butt scoring goals for the other team and that he lets people set up in the crease for a screen. He is what he is and what he isn't a top pairing d man. But every team needs guys like Hainsey. Our top D can't play 60 minutes a night.

Can't say I've heard that one. Can't say I'd be a fan of it either. Briere is locked up until the end of the 2015 season, but he's already 35.

I know that Eklund said he has three sources from Philly that they're interested in Byfuglien. Eklund sucks but he's almost always on the money about the Flyers. After that I've been seeing on Twitter and message boards that there are rumors of Briere + 2nd for Byfuglien. I haven't found an official source of the rumor, which is why I didn't make a thread for it.

On a serious note, I just don't see it. Briere is a tiny forward and Chevy has targeted and emphasized putting together a big team, plus he's 35 already, etc. We could do much better if we wanted to deal Byfuglien, in my honest opinion. I could see Philly wanting Byfuglien, just doubt the Jets have much, if any, interest in Briere.

Lol. It's weird how Eklund is almost always right about the Flyers but terrible about every other team. I wouldn't make that trade if I was Winnipeg but I think I would if I'm Holmgren in Philly. Just curious to see if you guys had heard anything about it.

Briere and a second has NO chance of getting Buff. None. Briere is 35 years old...

You shoot enough you'll eventually hit.

But the only older guys Chevy gets are stop-gap UFA signings.

Briere doesn't fit our mold, or our youth.

There are a lot of pieces that I like on Philly, but Briere is not one of them. Good player, not a good fit here.

Suggestions of trading Buff are usually from the "crazies" in Winnipeg who think he's fat, lazy etc. most Jets fans don't see any reason to trade him away considering he's locked up for several more years and is a pretty dynamic defenseman. No newspaper here has ever put out a report of even talking about trading him.

Old not older , small not smaller for a unique player like Buff? Sure , there is a chance Chevy is enticed by that.

The only way Buff for Briere goes down is if the Flyers throw in somebody like Simmonds, Couturier or the Schenns or a bunch of picks.

Well Philly isn't getting rid of any of their youth for now. They're too important and are starting to turn it on. Briere is pretty much our only trade piece, which sucks. I also saw something about Briere + Talbot + 3rd for Peverley + 1st. Don't think Boston would do that but I think Briere would do well up there.

Me too but no way Philly addresses their need on D by trading their top two RWs
