Still tough to say, but when I read things like this, it's hard to not get upset and thinking his young, short career might be cut short.

Wasn't there a player who was out 18 months, came back, and now he's very good? I remember seeing him in THN, but I completely forgot who he was.

One ray of hope and this is based solely on pure speculation, wishful thinking on my part.
The Rangers need some defensive depth, but they have not gone out and got it yet. There could be many reasons for it. Waiting for the deadline, keep the spot open for McIlrath ... , or hopefully please god make it true, Sauer is a little closer than we think.
I hope he's able to go about his day to day life relatively symptom free. He always seemed like a stand up guy and a solid teammate. Did that HFNYR card to him idea ever happen?
Really sad to hear about Mike. At this point, I just hope that he can recover enough to live a normal life and not be plagued by symptoms all of the time. My best wishes to Sauer.
I'm in the minority here but I think Phaneuf is a dick, he couldn't have let up a little on that hit, he went for the KO and ruined the kids career...
Sucks that Sauer's career got Phaneuf'd. I didn't like the hit either, but to be fair, Sauer's helmet came off and he hit his head on the top of the boards, which probably made things a lot worse than they would have been otherwise.
It's weird, I can still remember watching that game and knowing that things looked bad for Sauer as soon as that happened. Didn't expect it to be a career ender, though.
To be totally honest I wouldn't want one of our guys ending someones career, except for a certain crybaby Penguin...
I'm not saying I want a Ranger to end another players career. What I am saying is I don't want a Ranger to let up on the chance to make a big hit. If it results in an injury, that's out of that Ranger's control.

Cmon man...what a ridiculous post. This is NHL hockey, not pee-wee leagues.
The hit was 100% legal!
You expect him to let up on the hit? For what reason? This is pro hockey.
I might have to remind you, the entire reason why Sauer is in the place he is now is not because of the hit itself, its because he didn't wear his chinstrap tight enough and his head hit the glass without a helmet.

Your opinion, my opinion he went for the kill, and that jackass is noted for it...
