Colton Orr is one of the top fighters and probably would welcome a fight with another heavyweight since he himself is one. Like Chara, "punishing" him is extremely difficult because he's one of the best.
Not saying he wouldn't fight. What I'm saying is that if they put Orr out in that situation, we put ie. Kassian out. They fight and the Bourque thing doesn't happen, let alone Orr going after Plek's knee.
If we had an enforcer could dress against tough teams to take the Orrs off the ice. So our team won't be intimidated like that again. That was arguably most embarassing loss ever in our history

Orr would not have been afraid of Kassian. This guy gave John Scott a body shot to win his fight against Scott, so sucker punching Kassian would have been right up his avenue. As I said, Orr is not a guy who gives a damn about "The Code" or solving conflicts through the fighting major.
He wanted to injure Plekanec Matt Cooke style, and the only to defend against that is Plekanec himself avoid the hit. Kassian would be a few feet away, and then try to start a fight after the damage was done, just like what Bourque tried to do.

First post is dated 2012 and says "first skated feb 18". Is there something difficult in having a new injury thread for a new season? Why keep 30 pages of outdated information and discussion for no reason?

What is the point of "watching" him if he's a good 10 or more feet away from either player? Unless Kassian totally stop playing and just stalks Orr or Pleks all day, there is no way for a second man to defend another against a cheap shot.
In this particular play, Orr is way back off screen at center ice while we were just breaking out of our own zone. Unless Kassian was already out of the zone and we were letting the Leafs play 5-on-4 hockey, there is no way Kassian could have reached Orr.
Orr is aiming to wreck Plekanec's knee. He just needs to hit Plekanec when Plekanec is vulnerable, and unless Kassian is bear-hugging Orr wherever he goes , the oppotunity WILL arise for Orr to land a blow.
Also, Orr probably is not totally dumb and if kneeing Plekanec is not feasible, he can cross-check his head, which he has done before. There are many ways to initiate a cheap shot, and they all take only a split second to perform.
