The ice did indeed look pretty bad. One Gopher nearly ate it really bad into boards tripping over something in the ice and few players seemed confident of what the puck would do when it came to them.

Kind of funny watching all the Minnesota fans stream out during the 2nd intermission.

Agreed, the ice was noticeably bad there, but a good day all around for both games. Also didn't hurt that I was sitting next to a particularly obnoxious Minnesota fan (hey parents.... don't repeatedly curse in front of your six-year old kids, please), so seeing him get shut up even though I wasn't rooting for either team was quite nice.

Hope they make this an annual thing.

Sadly it's at the hole that is the Alliant Energy Center thanks to the WIAA Boys Basketball Tournament.

Maybe it was the same guy and he just sat in different sections, or maybe it's just a Minnesota tradition, but I had the same thing behind me.

HA! I was in 330 so I know exactly who you are talking about. Man, that guy was upset. It was interesting how he started bragging about MN being the state of hockey, football, and anything else he could think of instead of the score...

Great article from Bucky's 5th Quarter on Eaves, scoring and the attendance drop at Badger games.

Disgusting game tonight. Peterson let in two softies in the 3rd that tied the game and Kerdiles couldn't clear the puck out of the zone with all the time in the world in OT which led to the game winner. Penn State goalie is really impressive, he let in a softie but the only other goal he gave up was a 2 on 0 break.

Barring winning out the season and at least making the WCHA final it looks like the tourney is off the table. Ouch.

It's probably winning the WCHA or bust frankly.

Has anyone ever suggested the premise of hiring Tony Granato if Eaves (hopefully) gets the boot at season's end?

that would be a massive coup! Even though he seems to be an NHL guy.

Thank you Bucky for defeating UNO last night. Helped the Sioux sit in 2nd all alone for now.

Ummm no! The Badgers need the Sioux and Goofs to split and then they need to sweep SCSU this weekend. If only the Badgers did better during the beginning of the year, they would probably have a record just a little under Minny's (overall). But there are still some things the Badgers need to work on going into playoff hockey and looking ahead to next year.

1. Power-Play: 11.9% isn't going to cut it. Power plays usually have quick movements. The Badgers slow their PP down making it easier to defend. A lot of times this results in the other team gaining momentum.
2. Penalty-Kill: When you allow over 20% of the other teams PP's to convert it further amplifies the terrible PP and makes winning that much harder.

Strengths:

1. 5-on-5 - Goals are 68-42 in favor of Wisco.
2. They are averaging more shots - 28.9 vs. 28.1
3. Overall shot-goal %- 8.7% to 7.3%
4. Great goaltending and team defense.

Perhaps you understand why I wasn't holding out hope for a sweep of Scuzzu.

Let's get us some points tomorrow, hope Anchorage does us some favors, and get a new bench boss next year.

And who exactly is there to replace Eaves? Eaves knows how to win. Everyone calling for Eaves' head is seriously kidding themselves if they think it's going to happen. The Badgers were a 10 game suspension and a Zengerle injury away from probably being one of the top teams this year. The 1-7-2 start happened because the Badgers had been practicing with Kerdiles up on the first line with Zengerle and Barnes. Take away #9 and #17 and this team is relying on a bunch of 2nd-4th liners to win games. Once again EAVES knows how to coach a winning team. The only thing that truly needs better coaching is the PP. Bring in a PP specialist coach for crying out loud!

Tonights game was a flop (SCSU did plenty of that during the game btw). 2/3 of the goals scored for the Huskies were a lucky bounce off a shot and a Rumpel misplay. Not to mention it felt like the refs were only calling things on Wisco (see Kerdiles penalty which was the right call on #17 but what about the Vancouver like flop from the SCSU player!?). The ref was probably Derek Sheppard wasn't it?? I don't even want to look it up but from my memory Sheppard likes to call penalties on the Badgers.

Latest bracketology has Wisconsin in the tournament amazingly in Providence playing #1 Quinnipiac.

Granted the season isn't over yet and they could fall out but nobody would've guessed that Wisconsin would be in at this point with the way they started.

Have to love how the NCAA tournament is selected. Lose to St. Cloud State, move up 4 spots and into the tournament. Beat St. Cloud State, move down 2 spots and out.

I don't know about that. If CC is swept during the playoffs wouldn't that drop them out of being a TUC? Thus negating the 2 losses to them earlier in the year and probably putting Wisco around 12-14 in the PWR? I'm trying hard to understand the PWR, as long as CC and NMU don't become TUC then Bucky has a good shot of making the tournament.

I think we're getting in, some pundits are saying that quinnipac would get destroyed if they played in the wcha(as would most east coast teams). The fourth place team in the wcha has to get in.
