Saku Koivu

A tribute to Koivu. Boy do we need this guy back. This is among my two favourite moments of 2005-2006. [EDIT: Click on the first link posted by znk below. (03/30/06 vs Washington).] Cannot express the feeling in words. Just listen. "Take away Koivu!! Saku Koivu..."

Please post your favourite Koivu highlights. Thanks.

Btw, speaking of Koivu, I just found a very funny quote of him:

"I've never had major knee surgery on any other part of my body."

His english was poor back then tho.

Does anyone have the clip of the standing Ovation he received when he first came back from Cancer? Now that was an emotional night that I will never forget!

I love the sidestep, he made Chris Higgins look like Sheldon Souray on that one

Here's some good info for you:
2006 Playoffs with Koivu: 2-0
2006 playoffs without Koivu: 0-4

What is your explanation for this?

markOv,
Weren't you ready to ship koivu down the river during his three-week slump? Were you not also among the posters who hailed the coming of "the new Ribeiro" after he played ONE good game in the playoffs? Maybe not. But just in case, maybe we should post Cam Ward's playoff highlights as a reminder to the Ribeiro apologists?

Go to:
nhl.com > players > Koivu > recent video. There are some more. Then do the same for Chris Higgins, and you'll find more Koivu highlights.

Despite the fact that Koivu's loss cost us a second round birth last playoffs, some positives came out of it. First, his critics looked so foolish that i don't know how they could ever post again. Usually, these were the same critics who wanted Ribeiro to be named captain. The second positive comes out of that. Koivu's loss thrust Ribeiro into the spotlight, as he was expected to pick up the slack in Koivu's absence. If the Habs choked, he would no longer be able to hide from blame as the second-line centre. Quite a few people knew Ribs would probably disappear, but finally the moment of undeniable truth was here. Let's just say that things went exactly as predicted.

I don't know what it is about it, but this has long been one my all-time favourite Saku Koivu goals:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P76i8...h=saku%20koivu

Maybe it's just how crazy that game was, our huge comeback and all. It's a pretty nice goal too.

He is trying to say that if he didn't spend 99% of his post trying to discredit everything Koivu does, he wouldn't have over 4000 post.
