I love it. **** Cole and his sense of entitlement. Ryder always loved playing here and now the team has a pure offensive sniper. Bourque basically replaced Cole's hitting and effort this season anyways.
Erik Cole never used his size, so Montreal doesn't suffer from a loss in height here.
Cole hasn't hit as much here as in Carolina, but he was still a strong contributor physically and driving the net fearlessly.
I'm on the fence about the deal.
I think Cole will get going and have a solid finish, how long can he maintain his current(or 11-12) level of play? I was expecting to NOT play up to his cap hit at least the final year of his deal, but he was a bargain last year.
A big factor in the deal is what MB does with the extra cap space. It would be shocker if Kaberle wasn't gone so another 4.25 mil gone leaving almost 17 mil to sign 7 players(mostly depth plus 1-2 regulars).
Access. If you want access to the locker room, you report what Bergevin/Therrien allows you to report.
If you cross the line and report something that was supposed to be kept quiet, you lose access.
Reporters suck for the most part. However, they are employed and they know how to stay employed.
I just don't see how in a city like Montreal, where hockey is literally everywhere, there could be players who are that bad in the room without people knowing about it. Then when he's gone they all ride in like sheep saying he was a problem in the locker room. It doesn't make sense.
+We just cleared up cap space. Gives us room to make a UFA run sooner than we thought.
+Cole's contract was going to be ugly sooner rather than later
+I don't think Cole was happy here anymore.
+We got a draft pick out of it.
+Ryder is a nice option, this team desperately needed more scoring. Was always a fan.
-Cole's leadership will be missed.
-Ryder can't do anything but score goals.
-Less size, OMG smurfs, etc.
