I'm not certain I would have wanted him back beyond a shortened 48 game schedule & post season. But, MTL?

Not likin' it.

Eric Cole? Too bad Bruins couldn't figure out a way to beat an offer of Eric freakin Cole.

Chia still evaluating. 2 years 7 mil. We have carried Savards dead money the whole time and have replaced a solid cup winner with pouliot then bourque.

I will always like Michael for the excellent part that he played in the B's cup win. He and Seggy had some great chemistry and he was well liked by his team mates.

Also liked listening to him speak. My grandparents were also from Newfoundland

Makes me wonder if PC will now make a useless trade like Rolston last year when everyone has there hopes up for something else.

I prefer Cole(of last year) but habs took no risks with the contract and moved it.

Cole has been less than spectacular this year but his game in close is phenonemal. Loves to crash and always gets an extra gear in close. It really helped montreal to have a guy who isn't afraid of traffic but at same time, that contract isn't looking good.

I don't really see the connection. Ryder going to Montreal means Boston won't do anything significant?

That's too bad, kinda hoping we would get him back. It will be interesting to see how Ryder fares this time around in Montreal, at his best Cole is the better player, but this year Ryder was clearly outperforming him.

Why would people want him back?
His game didn't fit with our system. He may be able to score 35 in Dallas but in Boston defensive responsibility is important. Most guys score up to their potential when they are let loose and don't have to try in all 3 zones.
Same thing with Pouliot. 'Omg why did we let him go, he's got like 15 pts' I could score atleast 10 if I played with St. Louis and Lecavalier.

Ouch!!!! Wow this is one of my guys. Great move by the Habs been watching Ryder for 2 yrs and most improved player for that age I've seen since Keenan got his hands on Adam Creighton

As I said in the trade/signing thread, this is nothing more than a smart salary dump by the Habs.

Oh......where was all this Ryder love while he was here?

one less trade target. too bad - thought he was a great fit for a cup run. one good thing is that erik cole won't be running our goalies over as often.

OK, that makes sense. I never really thought they were considering bringing him back but who knows?
