The blueprint could be something like trade Gionta, re-sign Ryder to a less expensive contract and add Perry. I would sooner have Perry and Ryder on the right side rather than Cole and Gionta.

I'm a Bruins fan but obviously I follow the habs closely. I don't like this deal. Montreal is playing so well and I think Cole is a much better fit than Ryder in Montreal. Cole was also helping kids like Galchenyuk and Eller develop. Why mess with that when you're in first. Why go back in time to Ryder?

Ryder has a far superior shot and seeing how Gionta is playing for this season we need a Ryder more than a Cole.

Cole in the next two seasons would have been driven out of town as he'll likely sustain only a 20 goal pace.

Cole will never repeat his goal place from last year.

Sad to lose Cole and open up another hole with the size up front. But the 3rd round pick seals the deal. Habs have 1 First, 3 Seconds and 2 Thirds. It's good for the draft, but it also gives us room to maneuver in deals, but move up at the draft.

Ryder is a lazy player, i was so happy when he was gone. I am happy that is UFA at seasons end. Maybe the plan is to go for a top talent FA this summer.
