Marc just outright denied Erik asked for a deal...for you know-it-alls out there that he wanted out.

Bergevin denied cole asking for a trade. This is a pure hockey related trade. Habs needed a right handed scorer big time. Pretty understanding trade.

I feel like it was more based on this season's performance/cap reasons than anything. I don't buy into the attitude issues.

And Ryder is the scorer we needed ? Come on, we all could see that Cole was getting better game by game.

Yeah, to me this seems to be about:
1. Opportunity to clear up cap space without killing us.
2. Improves the PP right away.
3. Anything else.

Really loved Cole. Was a highlight when we signed him. Played great with us. Was a great influence for the team. Had some iffy moments during the lockout. Had a very slow start this season, though he was turning it around. Erik's contract was very risky and potentially too costly.

Still. Liked Cole, thanks for your service and all the help he provided. A class player (such as when he bought Leblanc's parents tickets so they could watch his first game, out of town). I'll miss ya.

1- we clear cap space to sign another pseudo 2nd rate star cause the big players won't come here
2- we'll see
3- we lose tons of physicality

Thank you, Erik.

When you came here, like most people, I doubted you but you became the first true power forward we ever had.

I'll always remember the high five with the ref. Cole was stellar around that time.

Cap hit or not I don't give a ****, and I'm biased because I love him, but I don't understand. He was coming around too.
Exactly, he has one bad half season and boom he's thrown under the bus. I know he played on the third line now, but our first two lines don't look too intimidating physically when you take Bourque out. Comes playoff times, it's gonna hurt.

The 2011-2012 version of Erik Cole..you just felt like something was going to happen pretty much every time he bolted down the wing with the puck on his stick.

Thats how i see it. He wanted out. His comments, his play, and his willingness to waive his NTC basically solidified that for me. I think the organization likely saw that as well.

His long term dedication to the team was questionable. I think he would have became just as much a distraction if he stuck around.

Peace out, Cole. Appreciated your time, your leadership and all you did for the habs.

Your mentorship for Pacs, your giving Leblanc a credit card to get his parents to the game. Great guy, great player. Best of luck to you.

Exactly. You clear cap space and at least you keep the big power forward.

Height isnt that relevant over 6 foot. And its only a 10 pound difference.

Cole was not the same player as last season. Wish him well.
