I think you are underselling what both Kruger and Leddy will get. Guessing they get $4 mil combined. I'd let Roszival walk and hope one of your young players can come in as a depth defenseman, but Brookbank as the #6.

Fine, give them each another 350k, we are still under the cap.
We have to remember they are RFA's and nobody will offer sheet them. If someone offer sheets Leddy for 3mil, bye bye.
At this point it's too difficult to tell, but I think that there's an 85% chance Emery comes back next year. If he doesn't, then we have to turn to free agency, and I'm not sure how that will go.
If we win the Cup, we should do everything in our power to keep that group together. Stalberg or Frolik may be casualties, but overall it should look similar too this year's roster if it does happen.
I just wish they'd lock up our RFA's before the off season. No reason to allow teams to try to offer sheet guys like we did with Hjalmersson. Get Leddy and Kruger done and then you can see if guys like Stalberg and Bickell want to stick around for what we can pay them.

Are you kidding? I hope so.
I'd feel bad for Kruger if he was still the 4th line centre next year. He's capable of being more than that.. though, Shaw's been good as the third line centre, he could probably move back to the wing.

As much as I love Bolland, I feel his contract is becoming expendable. If I was Stan I would be listening to (or making) all offers in the offseason.
To add, I mean the aforementioned because I believe that Danault and McNeill will be blossoming and that there is only so much room on the roster for centers moving forward.

Reason: Clarification

Teuvo is another guy that will make an impact. The impact will probably be as a top-six center.
I think our future at center will be something like this: Toews, Teuvo, Danault, and Hayes.

Unfortunately, I was thinking the exact same thing when trying to figure out the centre situation next year. I love Bolland though and it would suck to see him go.. but, with the amount he makes (and he's not overpaid, IMO), Chicago could use Kruger/Shaw as the third line centre and then use Bolland+ to grab a solid #2 centre.
Again though, I can't stress this enough, I love Bolland and would hate to see him go.. it's just tough to see him being on this team past next season.

I dont see how Leddy is worth 3mil, and I'm tired of management paying for potential. I would rather keep our forward depth, than keep someone who doesn't care to play in Chicago. It's not that I don't think Leddy will eventually be worth it, just tired of seeing our RFAs hold out for big money (or sign offer sheets) when they know the situation we are in.
That and we need room to sign Hammer and Bolland the next year.

So, a 22-year-old Nick Leddy, who had 37 points last year and has improved his overall game this year, playing a lesser role, isn't worth 3M per but 27-year-old Stalberg is? I don't get that. I know, at the end of the day, a player signs an offer-sheet, but a young player like Leddy, who's never negotiated a secondary contract would be heavily influenced by his agent. So, even if Leddy sgned an OS, that wouldn't necessarily mean he doesn't want to be in Chicago, but rather his agent is guaranteeing him more money.
Not to mention, Chicago has far less options in the replacing Leddy than they do in replacing Stalberg. You're far, far more likely to find a replacement for Stalberg in Teravainen, Danault, McNeill, J.Hayes, Morin, K.Hayes, Nordstrom, Calnan, Shalunov, etc than you are to find a Nick Leddy replacement in Clendening, Fournier, Holl, Mattson, Lalonde, etc.. (Guys like Johns, Olsen, Dahlbeck don't bring the same game as Leddy).
At the end of the day though, I don't think it will matter. Leddy should be signed before another team has a chance to offer=sheet him and judging by the lack of offer-sheets to guys like Benn, O'Relly, Subban, etc.. I doubt anyone even attempts to give Leddy one, should he reach that point in the summer without a contract.

I would take Leddy over Bolland easily considering the circumstances.
Leddy over Bolland, give me a break. I like Leddy but that is complete nonsense.
I don't want to turn this into a Leddy thread, so i'll just stick to what I said above. RFAs should sign bridge contracts and not sign offer sheets. If Subban got 2.5, no way in hell should Leddy get more than 2. It's a pet peeve I have that won't change. I hated Hammer for what he did, and I don't want to go through with that with Leddy. Sign with us for a fair price or GTFO.

Leddy over Bolland is because of who is in the pipeline, not necessarily the player comparison. This team is deeper at forward and center than defense in the minors. That is why I put Leddy ahead. I also am high on Leddy's potential as well. He is showing top 4 potential, while Bolland is a solid 3rd line center which I think Danault or McNeill can replicate.

We arent playing for 5years from now, we are playing to win in the next 2 or 3 years.
Leddy is a bottom pairing Dman on this team, Bolland is an average #2C or amazing #3C. Depth dmen are harder to find than shutdown Cmen.
