You mean the year that Clarke completely threw away and admitted he screwed up the team?

Bob Clarke was on TSN and he said that Gagne is one of the best defensive LW's in hockey and along with his leadership and speed would be a great help to Couturier. He also said that he can help Couturier get his offense going as well. Makes me wonder if a French shut down line of Gagne/Couturier/Talbot would be in the works.

Yup. Like Coburn, Couturier, Simmonds, the Schenns, Bryz, Hartnell, Timonen, Read and Grossmann. All of those excellent players are all thanks to Clarke.

Homer's a bum. I don't give a crap how many good trades, signings or picks he's made, he once traded a first rounder for Eminger AND the Phantoms suck. B-U-M. BUM.

Gagne - Giroux - Voracek -----Best
Hartnell - Schenn - Briere----- Great
Talbot - Couturier - Simmonds -------Grind / Wear n Tear
Harry Z - Fedotenko - Rinaldo -------Energy/Fast

That's what I wanna see

When the hell did a 3rd/4th round pick become so damn valuable?

Simmonds doesn't play on your team?

Oops.

That solves the Knuble problem in my thingy, I say we bench him.

Plus I think Simmer and Talbot could get Couturier going, as well as having Hartnell get Briere going on the line above.

For some reason I forgot Gagne was a lot older than he actually was

Didnt realize he was younger than Briere, we could get a few good years out of him

I know you don't want to believe that it needed to be broken up...

I'll echo what many on this forum have been saying, I want to see Gagne stitched to Couturier for as long as they can. They'll be a killer shut down pair, and there is absolutely no way Gagne's scoring talent won't rub off on him. I wouldn't be surprised if this was part of the logic in aquireing him.

Still excited for all the possibilties here with such a minimal cost.

Mant to respond to this earlier. But I wish I could have heard that interview. I was on vacation during that game so missed it. Obviously Forsberg is one of my favorites. Would love to see him play just one more game in orange and black. Maybe bringing back Gagne will help sway him

For whatever reason he never did much for me. I know the younger fans were in love with the guy. Little personality, nothing distinctive about his play style. Scored in some big moments but eh, someone had to, just happened to be him, is the way I always looked at those.

I guess I'm just a fan of the more fiery and/or physical players (both at the same time is best).

I think at this point, Gagne is on the third line, I don't thik he has the offence anymore to be on the first or second lines

From what Timmeh said:

Quote:
Flyers have 30 players on cap. Meszaros on LTIR and Shelley on it as of this afternoon. McGinn to IR only to create roster spot for Gagne...

Gagne's cap hit of $3.5 million was negated by moves today. Flyers have $800K cap space. Pronger and Walker not on LTIR yet ...
Article...

http://www.csnphilly.com/flyers/flye...cap-room-gagne

Quote:
So how did the Flyers afford Simon Gagne’s $3.5 million cap hit?

Last week, Scott Hartnell went on long-term injury. When Hartnell returned on Saturday, the club placed Andrej Meszaros ($4.0 million) on LTIR.

Right now, the Flyers have 30 players on their cap. They had $3.2 million cap space and needed more for Gagne, not to mention a roster spot (23 maximum).

Jody Shelley undergoes hip surgery on Wednesday. This afternoon, the club put Shelley ($1.10 million) on LTIR and moved Tye McGinn to injured reserve.

Those moves freed up cap space and opened a roster spot for Gagne.

Currently, the Flyers have roughly $800,000 in cap space.

Keep in mind the Flyers still have not placed either Chris Pronger or Matt Walker on LTIR. If they do that, they pick up another $6.6 million in cap relief.
