No way.

I would like to see it, but not yet. Not with the injuries the team has suffered. He'll be given until next season IMO.

Easy to blame injuries... but a lot of injuries are caused by his dumb shot blocking system.

From your mouth to G-d's ears. I really really hope. However, he wasn't the reason Hank made his best Brian Elliott impression tonight (and not the good kind either).

The only injury that was caused by his dumb shot blocking system was the one that Girardi ALMOST suffered. He missed 2 minutes of the Habs game and played today. That's not why he should get fired.

Del Zotto was hit by Methot, messed up his hip.

McDonagh was boarded and charged by Pacioretty, not sure what his injury is.

Nash boarded by Lucic.

The only shot blocking injury was Girardi, and he played tonight.

Tortorella isn't to blame for the injuries. I do think the team needs to fire him, though.

Then I really wonder why even some Rangers fans blamed him for injuries, saying his system takes a toll on the players. :/

I don't know if it causes injuries, but it takes a toll on offense, that's for damn sure

Ruff got fired after losing to the Jets, so if Torts is going to get fired now is the time.

It can't take a toll on the players without putting them on the IR?

The Rangerscant afford not making the playoffs, they were supposed to be Stanley cup contenders.

Our road trip started promising with 1 win and 1 coach fired but since then we let Muller, Lavs, and DeBoer survive us. I'd like to see one more head roll before calling this 4-1 road trip a success.

I think you're confusing things. Last year the Rangers were pretty much injury free. Staal and Sauer missed a lot of games because of concussions and hits. Gaborik got injured in the playoffs on a hit. I don't remember how Boyle got injured, but I don't think blocking a shot. The only major injury I can think of that was due to shot blocking was the one to Callahan the year before, which broke his leg I believe and he had to miss the playoffs. When Rangers fans say that shot blocking takes a toll, I think they mean that the team "banged up", but that's different from injured. You get banged up and tired playing this style. It contributed to a tired team in the ECF last year (2 game 7s and no #6 D were probably bigger factors).

doubt it, unless theyre giving up on this season. changing the system now would just ensure no playoffs.

Yes it can. What I meant is blaming Torts directly for injuries.

I guess you can compare the Habs under Martin. They had a lot of injuries and they used to block a lot of shots.

Came in here to post that i hope hes not simply because some canuck fans will be burning up the e-niverse about how we should fire AV for him.

Seems i was too late.

Sure ensured no playoffs for the Kings last year. Also the system change really hurt the Ducks last year. Really hurt Caps in like 2009 when Boudreau took over in the middle of the season. Really hurt the Pens when Bylsma took over in the middle of the season.

This team needs a change.
